New Ship Continues Atlantic Offshore's Fleet Modernization

Atlantic Offshore Rescue will unveil the third new vessel in the past 12 months as part of its fleet modernization program, representing an investment totaling $458 million. Ocean Falcon, a new Class A Multi Role and Emergency Response and Rescue (MRV/ERRV) vessel, is to be christened at a ceremony at Aberdeen harbor before commencing a contract with a major U.K. operator. Atlantic Offshore Rescue will provide emergency recovery, rescue cover, tanker assistance and general field support for offshore operations at the Curlew Field, in the North Sea.

Zamakona Delivers New Ship to Atlantic Offshore

Norwegian shipping company Atlantic Offshore A.S. took delivery of new offshore multipurpose vessel Ocean Falcon from Zamakona Yards at the builder’s facilities in Pasajes, San Sebastián. Ocean Falcon is the third and final vessels in a series built by Zamakona for Atlantic Offshore A.S., all similarly with Havyard HY820 design, but with a few technical variations between them. Its sisters, Ocean Osprey and Ocean Marlin, were the first and second of the contract, respectively.

Launch of OCEAN FALCON in Pasajes

On November the 6th, Zamakona Yards Group successfully completed the launch of the ship “Ocean Falcon” at its facilities in Pasajes (San Sebastian, northern Spain). The ship is the third Zamakona Yards launches, of all three signed with the Norwegian shipping company Atlantic Offshore A.S. The primary mission of the ship is to provide prompt attention to emergencies on oil rigs, being specially adapted to the harsh conditions of the North Sea. It is there, where it will begin operations for the oil company SHELL in the second quarter of 2015. The ship constructed in Pasajes is a Field Support Vessel (FSV) with Havyard HY820 design and incorporates the latest technologies including systems for towing operations with a pulling capacity of 65 tons.
