MacGregor Gets Large Crane Order for Prysmian’s New Cable Layer

MacGregor, Rolls-Royce to Study Containership Autonomy
A new collaborative research and development initiative will explore the impact of developments in autonomy for cargo ship navigation and cargo systems onboard containerships. The research will be conducted by partners MacGregor, part of Cargotec, and Rolls-Royce, who have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for collaboration. Asbjørn Skaro, Rolls-Royce, Director Digital and Systems, said, “Rolls-Royce is pioneering remotely controlled and autonomous ships and believes such a remote controlled ship will be in commercial use by the end of the decade and a common sight on the high seas by 2030. For the full benefits of such a change to be realized many activities currently done today manually will need to be done autonomously.
MacGregor Bags Equipment Contract for 6 AH
MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received a major order from Kleven in Norway for six comprehensive deck handling equipment packages. They will be installed on six new-generation Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels for Maersk Supply Service. MacGregor's delivery of Triplex and Hatlapa products is planned to start in the last quarter of 2015 and run until the second quarter of 2017. The contract also includes options to equip an additional four vessels. The parties have agreed not to disclose the order value. MacGregor Reorganizes into 7 Operative Divisions
MacGregor, part of Cargotec, announces changes in its operative structure and starts a reorganization into seven operative divisions which will become effective on January 1, 2015. The six new operative divisions together with Global Lifecycle Support as the seventh one will enable MacGregor to improve customer service throughout the lifecycle of the products, offer more comprehensive packages and boost the development of new shiptype-specific solutions, the company said. New Senior VP for Cargotec's Offshore Business
Pasi Lehtonen has been appointed as Senior Vice President of Cargotec's Offshore business segment, effective from the beginning of January. Lehtonen has worked with Cargotec since 1995, his most recent position being Senior Vice President of Finance for Cargotec's Marine business. He will continue as a member of Marine's management group. In an earlier announcement, Cargotec confirmed the appointment of Tom Svennevig as Vice President for its Offshore segment's advanced load-handling business, and Ilpo Heikkilä as Vice President for its Offshore segment's winch business.
