Barakah Offshore Gets Contract from Petronas

Barakah Offshore Petroleum’s subsidiary, PBJV Group Sdn Bhd (PBJV), has received a Letter of Award from Malaysian oil company Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd, for the supply, refurbishment and maintenance of cleaning pig and associated services in Sabah and Sarawak, Malaysia. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Barakah said its wholly-owned subsidiary PBJV has received a letter of award from Petronas Carigali for the proposed job. "The total value of the contract will depend on the actual work orders to be issued by Petronas Carigali from time to time during the contract period. Barakah management estimates that the value of the contract to be about RM20 million to RM30 million, based on the current estimated work programme," said Barakah.

VSAT Connectivity by Globecomm for Malaysia's PBJV Group

Globecomm Maritime, a leading provider of maritime communications solutions, has been awarded a contract to provide VSAT connectivity to PBJV Group's barge Kota Laksamana 101. The barge, which accommodates up to 300 personnel, was recently chartered to Petronas, a fully integrated energy company based in Malaysia. Under the terms of the deal, PBJV is required to provide a dedicated 512kbps up and down link to Petronas staff working on board the vessel. Globecomm Asia Regional Sales Manager Kian Ong, who led the project, says the scope of Globecomm's solution exceeded PBJV's expectations, despite intense competition for the contract.

Globecomm to Provide VSAT for PBJV Barge

Purpose-built accommodation and pipe-lay barge on charter to Petronas equipped with VSAT and L-Band services. Globecomm Maritime has been awarded a contract to provide VSAT connectivity to PBJV Group’s barge Kota Laksamana 101. Globecomm will provide Ku-Band VSAT connectivity with L-band back-up to the specialist vessel during its deployment in waters off Bintulu. The barge, which accommodates up to 300 personnel, was recently chartered to Petronas, a fully integrated energy company based in Malaysia.

ABS Nautical Systems Signs New Contracts

Pacific Drilling Services, Inc. has signed a contract with ABS Nautical Systems to implement the NS5 Enterprise Hull Inspection module on four of its drill ships through the ABS Offshore Newbuild Program. The Houston based company will also receive Survey Planning Documents for each drill ship. The primary intent of this document is to identify areas of the hull structure that are to be surveyed, which can then be used as a means for maintaining compliance with classification. Pacific Drilling Services will utilize these tools on their newest drill ships, laying the foundation for sound hull integrity for the entire service life of their vessels.
