CMA CGM Shuffles Container Services

CMA CGM announced changes to come on its shipping services connecting North Europe with Asia. New rotation on FAL 1: Starting in Hamburg on May 26, 2016 with m/v CMA CGM VASCO DE GAMA voy. Southampton - Dunkerque - Hamburg - Rotterdam - Zeebrugge - Le Havre - Malta - Khor Fakkan - Jebel Ali - Shanghai - Tianjin Xingang - Dalian - Busan - Qingdao - Shanghai - Ningbo - Yantian - Port Kelang - Algeciras - Southampton. New rotation on FAL 23: Starting in Hamburg on May 25, 2016 with m/v SALAHUDDIN voy. Antwerp - Hamburg - Felixstowe - Rotterdam - Le Havre - Port Kelang - Chiwan - Hong Kong - Shanghai - Ningbo - Yantian - Vung Tau - Port Kelang - Le Havre - Rotterdam - Antwerp. New FAL 7 service: Starting in Rotterdam on June 8, 2016 with m/v APL SENTOSA voy.

Ocean Three Alliance optimize Asia-Europe routes

CMA CGM and Ocean Three partners  announced optimization on Asia-Europe routes, which aims to reduce capacity and to improve the rates efficiency. The Ocean Three Alliance have decided to harmonize FAL2 and FAL3 in order to adapt to the current market situation between Asia and Europe. They will offer a new optimized rotation. Instead of two services FAL2 and FAL3 will be launched service FAL23, adding the ports of call in Cai Mep Deep Sea Terminal (Vietnam), Felixstowe (UK) and Chiwan (China). The route will employ 12 vessels with capacity in range 12,000-15,000 TEU. The first voyage from the new service will be made by CMA CGM La Perouse starting from Antwerp on September 28. The routes optimization was approved by the three members of the alliance – CMA CGM, CSCL and UASH.

Ocean 3 launched at the AGCT, Rijeka

China Shipping Container Line’s (CSCL) Xin Qin Huang Dao recently made its maiden call at the Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT), International Container Terminal Services, Inc.’s (ICTSI) container handling facility in the Port of Rijeka, Croatia, which marked the launch of a service of the Ocean 3 alliance, connecting Rijeka and other European ports to Asia and North America. The vessel arrived at the AGCT last 18 February and is deployed to Ocean 3’s Phoex / AMX8 / AMC4 weekly service. In September 2014, shipping lines CMA CGM, CSCL and United Arab Shipping Co. formed the Ocean 3 alliance to optimize and consolidate several of their services routes between Asia and Europe, and Asia and North America.

CMA CGM Takes Two New Vessels

The CMA CGM Group announced the delivery of the CMA CGM LAMARTINE (6,500 TEU) and CMA CGM CALLISTO (11,400 TEU) in . Built by Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Co shipyards, the CMA CGM LAMARTINE (6 500 TEU) is deployed on the Asia-Mediterranean market on the MEX (Mediterranean Express) service. The vessel started its rotation today in Yokohama. Itsrotation will be as follows: , , , Kwanyang, , , , Chiwan, Hong Kong, Port Kelang, , , , , Fos, , , , , Khorfakkan, Port Kelang, Chiwan, . The CMA CGM Group also took delivery today in of CMA CGM CALLISTO (11,400 TEU). Built by Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyards, the vessel is the third of a series of 12 vessels of 11,400 TEU ordered by the CMA CGM Group. They will be delivered between 2010 and 2011.

APL Launches 53-foot Containers into the Market

The first 53-foot ocean-capable containers from shipping leader APL have rolled off the assembly line and were loaded onto the vessel APL Philippines for their initial voyage across the Pacific. Major retailers have snapped up the containers to take advantage of “big-box economics” on the Transpacific Trade from Asia to the U.S. “We took the first order of 53-foot containers from our manufacturer in China and immediately put them to work,” said Bob Sappio, Senior Vice President of the Transpacific Trade at APL. APL last month introduced the world’s first 53-foot containers designed specifically for deep sea containership transport. The carrier recently announced a name for the new product – Ocean53. The first cargo-laden boxes were loaded at the Port of Chiwan.

New Ports Service Established

A new service between China and U.S. East Coast ports has been launched by Century Bridge Container Lines, which provides direct ports of call to Houston, Miami and N.Y. Lasting only 28 days to arrive to the Gulf, the port rotations encompass Xingang, Qingdao, Shanghai, and Shenzhen (port of Chiwan). With immediate effect, cargo moving on CY/CY basis from Southern China to U.S. on board the company's "all-water East Coast Service" ships.
