Globe Wireless Announces CrewCash and ShipMoney
Globe Wireless announced an exclusive worldwide sales and marketing relationship with CrewCash, LLC (CrewCash), a payments company offering comprehensive prepaid solutions to the commercial maritime industry. CrewCash and ShipMoney is a new prepaid Visa® card program for captains and crew members. The program provides a very efficient and cost effective alternative to the delivery of currency to ships. It is based on reducing the number of cash deliveries and the amount of cash held onboard, thereby significantly reducing costs.
New Vizada Broadband Packages
Vizada has launched a range of maritime broadband packages integrating Ku-band VSAT and mobile satellite services (MSS), including the newly-launched Vizada XChangeTM. Shipping companies can select the combination of VSAT, MSS hardware and airtime best suited to their needs while being able to upgrade to a higher bandwidth plan or next generation satellite service during or after contract termination. The packages range from unlimited 256kbps VSAT airtime-only starting at $1,500 per month up to an unlimited 1024kbps VSAT plus MSS airtime and hardware back-up, for a monthly fee of $2,750. Marlink Extends Crew Calling Programs
Marlink, a subsidiary of Telenor Satellite Services, announced that it is extending its "Super Quiet Time" and "Inmarsat A to Fleet" maritime communications programs offered via Telenor. Both programs, first offered in early 2003, are designed to make "at sea" satellite communications more affordable and easier for mariners. Marlink is extending its Super Quiet Time program through March 2005, offering customers substantially reduced prices for prepaid voice calls over Inmarsat-B, -M, Mini-M, GAN, Fleet and Swift services. Marlink has significantly increased the SQT calling hours in all ocean regions, including 24-hours-a-day SQT calling on Saturdays and Sundays.
