WWII Museum’s PT-305 Sails Again

Commercial workboat philanthropy on display on PT-305: WWII Museum’s PT-305 sails again after a far reaching donor-funded restoration. In March, the National WWII Museum in New Orleans launched its reconstructed PT-305, built locally by Higgins Industries in 1943. The museum acquired the boat known as the USS Sudden Jerk in 2007, restoration began in 2009, and it now sails Lake Pontchartrain as an interactive exhibit. PT-305, with a fifteen-man crew, belonged to a 12-ship squadron operating in the Mediterranean from 1944 until the war ended in 1945.

McDermott Installs Mooring Tower off Indonesia

McDermott Successfully Completes Transportation and Installation of Banyu Urip Single Point Mooring Tower, Offshore Indonesia

McDermott International, Inc. has successfully concluded the transportation and installation of a Yoke-type Single Point Mooring tower and hook up to a Floating Storage Offloading (“FSO”) vessel for PT Rekayasa Industri offshore Indonesia in the Banyu Urip field. PT Rekayasa Industri was appointed by Mobil Cepu Limited, an ExxonMobil subsidiary, as one of the engineering, procurement, construction and installation contractors for the field. “PT Rekayasa Industri awarded the contract to McDermott earlier this year,” said Hugh Cuthbertson, Vice President and General Manager, Asia Pacific.

Foreign Crew/Vessels to Notify Immigration at Cilacap, Indonesia

  Notice of foreign vessels and crew arriving at PTK Cabang Cilacap (the Government terminal in Cilacap) must be sent to the Immigration office at least 48 hours (2x24 hours) before arrival. Failure to comply with this regulation will result in a fine of up to (equivalent to approximately USD 4,200). Based on the above, the Appointment Letter or Notice of Vessel Arrival should be provided to the agent at least two days in advance. G E Shipping Sells Supramax

India’s largest private sector shipping company  Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (G E Shipping) has contracted to sell its 2003 built Supramax Dry Bulk Carrier Jag Rahul of about 52,364 dwt. G E Shipping said that the vessel will be delivered to the new buyer in Q4 FY 2017-18. The Company’s current fleet (including Jag Rahul) stands at 48 vessels, comprising 32 tankers (12crude carriers, 17 product tankers, 3 LPG carrier) and 16 dry bulk carriers (1 Capesize, 8 Kamsarmax, 7 Supramax) with an average age of 10.24 years aggregating 3.93 mn dwt.

Pertamina Delivers First LNG Cargo to Nusantara FSRU

Indonesia's government controlled PT Pertamina said that the first LNG cargo produced with the gas sourced at the field has been delivered to the Nusantara Regas’ Nusantara FSRU in the Jakarta Bay. The shipment is the first LNG cargo since the official PHM became the operator of the Mahakam block as of January 1, 2018. The LNG gas cargo of 2 million per million british thermal units (MMBTU) is delivered to Nusantara Regas One's floating storage and regasification units (FSRU) in Jakarta Bay. The LNG Carrier Aquarius ship carried the LNG gas cargo on Thursday, (4/1).

Pertamina Orders Six Oil Tankers

According to an August 9 report from The Jakarta Post, state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has placed orders for six tankers for about $102m to support its fuel distribution across the archipelago. The domestic manufacturers who won the tender were PT PAL Indonesia, PT Dok dan Perkapalan Surabaya (DPS), PT Daya Radar Utama (DRU) and PT Dumas Tanjung Perak Shipyard. (Source: The Jakarta Post)

PT PAL Receives to Build Container Ships

State-owned shipbuilding company PT PAL Indonesia has received orders from a Thai shipping company for four container ships measuring 50,000 deadweight ton (DWT). The order from Thoresen Thai Agencies (TTA) is worth US$180 million, PT PAL General Engineering and Maintenance Director Herbadi Noviano said. Herbadi said the construction of the ships was to be completed in 2010-2013, adding that work could not start at once for the order as PT PAL had to honor contracts made earlier with other customers. State-owned shipbuilding company PT PAL Indonesia has received orders from a Thai shipping company for four container ships measuring 50,000 deadweight ton (DWT).

WWII PT Boat Fully Restored

Amphenol Industrial Operations (AIO) sponsored The National WWII Museum during their endeavor to bring patrol torpedo boat PT-305 back to the water. The restoration began ten years ago, and AIO has been involved since 2014. It supplied a number of its 97 Series connectors to enable the PT-305 team to faithfully and accurately restore the boat's instrumentation and electrical systems to their former glory. Historic PT Boat to Return to Lake Pontchartrain

The National WWII Museum announced plans to return restored patrol-torpedo (PT) boat PT-305 to her home waters of Lake Pontchartrain, where she was originally tested by Higgins Industries more than 70 years ago. The Museum launched the first phase of the plan this morning: a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds necessary to move PT-305 to the water, test her for passenger use and, for the first time, offer civilians the chance to take a ride on a fully restored combat-veteran PT boat – the fastest U.S. naval ship in World War II.

Oil from Sunken Iranian Tanker Diffusing in East China Sea

Oil from an Iranian tanker that sank in the East China Sea has diffused into four separate slicks, covering a combined area of just over 100 square kms (39 square miles), Chinese authorites said late on Wednesday. Earlier satellite imaging showed two large slicks, with the larger one also thicker and more concentrated, but the latest data had found four slicks ranging in size from 48 square kms (19 square miles) to 5.5 square kms (2.1 square miles), the State Oceanic Administration (SOA) said.

Keppel Wins Barge Order

Keppel Corporation Limited, through its offshore unit in Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), has clinched another contract to build a swamp barge from repeat customer, PT Apexindo Pratama Duta Tbk (PT Apexindo). The S$25 million contract for the swamp barge, Yani, is the third contract PT Apexindo has awarded to Keppel FELS Ltd. The Indonesian drilling contractor, who recently obtained a public listing on the Jakarta Stock Exchange, has earlier awarded Keppel with two other contracts, one for the new construction of swamp barge Raisa, and another for the repair and refurbishment of swamp barge Maera. Newmar Battery Chargers for Restored PT Boat

A U.S. Navy World War II PT boat, which was recently restored and rebuilt by volunteers at The National WWII Museum in New Orleans, has been equipped with modern state-of-the-art battery chargers from Newmar. The Indian Government has taken steps to expand and modernise the posts in the state of Maharashtra. Delta "T" Plays Role in Historic PT-305 Restoration

After a seven-decade odyssey, PT-305 is back home in New Orleans, Louisiana, preparing to serve her country again. Built by Higgins Industries in 1943 for the U.S. Navy, this 78' patrol torpedo vessel sank three enemy craft in the World War II Mediterranean Theater of Operations. PT-305 is now in the final stages of refurbishment at the National WWII Museum's John E. Kushner Restoration Pavilion. Engine room ventilation expert Delta "T" Systems plays a role in this historical vessel's return to service through its donation of 110V fans and DC blowers for PT-305.

Keppel’s Integration Efforts Bear Results With million contracts

The integration of Keppel Corporation’s offshore and marine businesses has contributed to a $16 million (S$29 million) swamp barge contract clinched as a result of the synergy of the offshore and specialised shipbuilding divisions. Furthermore, with the integration and Keppel’s sharper focus on specialised shipbuilding, especially support vessels, the offshore and marine group has also won a new contract worth S$21 million from Keppel Smit Towage for three 60-ton tugs which are due for delivery in mid 2003. These tugs, a utility boat and two terminal tractor tugs, will be deployed by Keppel Smit Towage in Brunei for charter to Brunei Shell Petroleum Company.

POSCO Daewoo to Supply Marine Equipment to Indonesian Shipbuilder

POSCO Daewoo has signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to supply shipbuilding materials worth US$150 million to Penataran Angkatan Laut (PT PAL), Indonesia’s largest state-run shipbuilder, according to a report in Business Korea. Under the contract, the Korean trading company will supply engines and other parts necessary for shipbuilding, and its partner PT PAL is going to build 10 patrol boats and one combat support ship with the provided materials before delivering them to Indonesian ministries including the Indonesian Navy and the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.

HOSTAR Moves WWII PT Boat

PT-728, one of the few remaining examples of the torpedo-armed fast attack craft that helped America win WWII, is no ordinary boat. To help move the vessel carefully, HOSTAR Marine used a hydraulic yard trailer. Portraying various sister boats, PT-728 has played a starring role in numerous movies and documentaries, most famously as PT-73 in the television show McHale's Navy. GTT to Design LNG Tanks for Korean Shipyard

GTT received at the end of 2017 an order from a South Korean shipyard regarding the design of the LNG tanks of a new LNG carrier. Its delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2020. GTT will design the LNG tanks of the unit, allowing for a capacity of 174,000 m3. The insulation solution Mark III Flex has been chosen for its ability to reduce the daily guaranteed Boil-Off gas rate to 0.085% of tank volume. 48 vessels in service already benefit from this technology. The shipowner and shipyard's names are kept confidential at this stage.

Damen: First SIGMA PKR frigate for Indonesian Navy

Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding has handed over the first SIGMA 10514 PerusakKawalRudal(PKR) frigate to the Indonesian Ministry of Defence, on schedule and on budget. The ceremony took place at the PT PAL shipyard in Surabaya where the vessel was assembled. The Indonesian Ministry of Defence awarded the contract to Damen as main contractor for the construction of the first SIGMA 10514 PKR in December 2012. On receiving the ship, named the RadenEddyMartadinata after one of the founders of the Indonesian Navy, the Ministry handed it on to the Navy.
