OT Africa Line Makes Changes
OT Africa Line (OTAL) announced some changes to its North Europe – West Africa services. These take into account various factors including a slight downturn in overall trade volumes, civil unrest in certain countries and improved availability of roll-on, roll-off multi-purpose tonnage. OTAL’s RoRo service is resuming its nine day frequency utilising six vessels on a 45-day round-trip schedule. This has been made possible by the return to the service of Rokia Delmas and Rosa Delmas. Both ships have recently been employed in support of the military action in Iraq and during their absence, the service was reduced to an eleven-day frequency utilizing three RoRo vessels.

U.K. based software house Marine Software Ltd was commissioned by Hebridean Island Cruises to set up their Marine Planned Maintenance system for the M.V Hebridean Spirit from existing AMOS D data and was delivered as a complete working system. their various container and Ro-Ro managed Delmas vessels Patricia Delmas, Roland Delmas, Suzanne Delmas, Rokia Delmas, Catherine Delmas, Roxane Delmas, Veronique Delmas, Kamina Delmas and Kariba Delmas. This now takes the number of vessels operating Marine Purchasing to 13 and also compliments Marine Planned Maintenance and Marine Storekeeper already installed on these vessels. OT Africa Line moves its operations in Antwerp
OT Africa Line is to move its operations in Antwerp from Hesse Noord Natie Terminal's Delwaide Dock (berth 702) to Churchill Dock South (berth 420) in order to increase efficiency and provide its customers with a range of additional benefits. The new berth, which will be used by OTAL and its sister company Delmas on an almost exclusive basis, is able to handle containers, RoRo, break bulk, project cargo and cars. In addition, there is a multipurpose storage warehouse suitable for cocoa covering some 64,000 cu. Vessels on OTAL's Combined and Express Service will call at Churchill Dock South every five days en route to West Africa.
Total Offshore Production Vessel to Get Modifications
The Total owned offshore production vessel Girassol is to undergo extensive modifications to raise its output capacity to 230,000 bpd for operation in the Rosa deepwater development offshore Angola. The French oil company has not yet disclosed which shipyard will carry out this work. Total hopes to begin production from the Rosa field in the first half of 2007.

Subsea 7 CFO has 'Measured Optimism' of Oil Service Market Recovery
Oslo-listed oil services firm Subsea 7's Chief Financial Officer Ricardo Rosa told an energy conference in Oslo he sees gradual market recovery as oil prices stabilize, and the outlook for subsea project awards increasing within the next 12 months. "Previously all the discussions (with oil companies) were about cutting costs, now we are starting to talk about launching new projects... We have a measured optimism," Rosa said. Rosa said he sees activity is picking up in the Gulf of Mexico, but remains low in western Africa, and doesn't expect anything in Brazil in 2017.
Keel Laid, Fabrication Started on 2 Navy Warships
This week, General Dynamics Bath Iron Works celebrated two milestone events for the Arleigh Burke-class program. On October 30, Bath Iron Works held a keel laying ceremony for the Rafael Peralta (DDG 115), the company’s 35th Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer. The ship is named for Sgt. Rafael Peralta, U.S. Marine Corps, who was deployed to Iraq in Operation Iraqi Freedom and was killed November 15, 2004, during the Second Battle of Fallujah in house-to-house urban combat at the age of 25. CMA CGM to improve its ASEA service between Asia and East Africa with the launching of ASEA Kenya and ASEA Tanzania. The CMA CGM Group’s Asia-East Africa (ASEA) service upgrade is scheduled to begin December 2014 with the launch of two new services. ASEA Kenya and ASEA Tanzania, will now accompany East African markets’ growth and replace the ASEA one single service, reducing transit times from Asia and improving reliability, the company said. CMA CGM intermodal and logistics solutions will connect African land-locked countries to Asia.
OTAL Announces Appointments
OT Africa Line (OTAL), the specialist West African carrier, has appointed several key figures to its UK and European based operations. Romain Berard has been appointed OTAL's African Sales Manager. Based in London, Mr. Berard will work as part of the commercial sales team. Traveling extensively throughout the African Sub-Continent, he will promote OTAL's services and build on existing relationships with the line's African agency network. Mr. Berard will be the African agents' first point of contact regarding sales strategy. Romain joins OTAL from Delmas (a subsidiary of the Bolloré Group, OTAL's parent company) where he was the U.K. Northbound Manager. Diane Mussault joins OTAL as Northbound Sales Manager. President Energy's Update on Lapacho Well
President Energy gave a mid-November update on the progress of the Lapacho well, Chaco Region, Paraguay. The well has been drilled to 4,490m since setting casing at 4,125m. President has previously announced that a light oil/condensate discovery had been made higher up the well in the Icla Formation and that drilling would continue to penetrate the main Santa Rosa target. President has now drilled the upper section of the Santa Rosa Formation and considers it is drilling a series of gas or gas/condensate sands.
Transocean Announces Senior Management Changes
Transocean Ltd. has announced that Ricardo Rosa will step down as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer effective January 9, 2012. OT Africa Line to be acquired by the Bollore Group
The Bollore Group has signed a contract with the aim of acquiring OT Africa Line, the British shipping line, and its landside network in Africa. The object of this move is to reinforce the Group's position in the Europe-Africa trade with the important contribution that OTAL can make, particularly in the traffic flows from the U.K., Germany and Benelux to the anglophone markets of Ghana and Nigeria. The OTAL organization will remain independent from Delmas, a Bollore Group liner shipping subsidiary, although potential economies in matters of common interest such ships and containers will be researched and evaluated. CMA CGM Launches West African Service
The CMA CGM Group announced the launch of a new service, WAZZAN, joining Morocoo to North West Africa, and improving the container shipper’s Intra African coverage. The CMA CGM Group said the new service improves transit time between Mauritania, Senegal and Morocco by eight days, with previous transshipment calls being replaced by direct ones. In addition, a new direct call, from North West Africa and to Morocco, in Las Palmas is introduced. WAZZAN also develops CMA CGM’s reefer containers offer in Nouadhibou, Mauritania, allowing fish exports to intra African and worldwide markets.

(MSC) has announced the following staff promotions and appointments effective immediately: Francesco Pansardi was named Marketing Manager, based in New York City; Tom Hughes was named National Trade Manager Transpacific Service, based in Los Angeles; Halina Rosa was named Trade Manager East Coast for the company's Transpacific service based in New York City; and Juan Wilson has been named Credit Manager, also based in New York City. Royal IHC Launches Seven Cruzeiro, Names Seven Sun
Royal IHC has named and launched the 550t top tension capacity pipelay vessel, Seven Cruzeiro, at its shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel. This is the final pipelaying vessel in a series of three ordered by Subsea 7, and the naming ceremony was performed by Sally Rosa, wife of Ricardo Rosa, Chief Financial Officer, Subsea 7. Cruise Ship Passengers Evacuated after Blaze on Board
Almost 200 passengers and crew on a cruise along the Danube river had to be evacuated from their vessel on Monday when a blaze broke out on board, the Austrian fire service said. The passengers, who were on a trip with German river-cruise line A-Rosa from Linz to Budapest, were taken off and moved to a nearby ship after the blaze started close to the village of Schoenbuehel-Aggsbach in Lower Austria, a fire brigade spokesman said. No-one was hurt. Twelve fire trucks and several boats with around 150 fire fighters fought the blaze before bringing it under control after two hours. Five ship crew members who tried to extinguish the fire were treated for smoke inhalation in hospital, a spokesman for the Red Cross said.
