Russia Says Denmark Detained Its Research Vessel

Danish authorities have detained a Russian research vessel and seized the ship's documents, Russia's embassy in Copenhagen said on Thursday.Russian RIA news agency reported that 61 people were on board of the vessel, citing the embassy.The embassy said the vessel, Akademik Ioffe of the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, was detained on November 1 while it was refueling at the port of Skagen.The arrest of the vessel was carried out as an interim measure in a third party claim related to the previous activities of the Akademik Ioffe vessel, it said.The vessel was flying the Russian flag, was owned by the Russian Federation, and was used by the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology for scientific purposes, the embassy said in a statement.Denmark's navy and foreign

Arctic Shelf Oil Could Meet 3.5% of Russia's Production

According to the optimistic forecast, oil production on the Russian Arctic shelf by 2030 will reach only 18 mln tonnes per year, Vasily Bogoyavlensky, Research Director of Oil and Gas Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences said. "I believe that in the next 15 years until 2030 shelf with oil will not help us. According to overoptimistic forecast, if the development of all open fields begins, best-case scenario is that in 2030 we will reach 18 mln tonnes, which is 3.5% of our annual production," expert said. At the same time, the expert spoke optimistically about the possibilities of import substitution of the equipment for the development of offshore fields.

Russia Launches a Laser-Powered Ship Repair Facility

Pilot project pioneering laser repair works for the metal parts of ships and vessels has been launched in Russia's Primorsky Territory, reports Sputnik. The technology of laser reordering of metallic parts in Russia's Primorye Territory was developed by the Far Eastern branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) jointly with the Far Eastern Federal University and the Vladivostok-based ship-repairing center Dalzavod. Robot complexes will be equipped with high-power lasers which will allow overlaying repair coats of different metals on faulty parts automatically, fully restoring the operational integrity of separate units, the RAS Far Eastern branch said. "With the use of lasers, coats of various metals will be put on broken parts to fully restore them.

Iran Gas Exports to Europe Would Take at Least 5 Years

Iran would take at least five years to start exporting natural gas to the European Union if sanctions were removed, industry experts said on Wednesday. Last month, Reuters reported that the EU was increasing the urgency of a plan to import natural gas from Iran, as relations with Tehran thaw while those with top gas supplier Russia grow chillier due to the Ukraine crisis. Russia meets a third of Europe's gas demand worth $80 billion a year. The EU has imposed sanctions on Moscow over the conflict in Ukraine, increasing the need for gas from elsewhere. Iran boasts the world's second-largest gas reserves after Russia but has also been hit with sanctions, in this case over its nuclear programme.

Rosneft to Carry Out Ecologic Fishery Research in Laptev Sea

For the first time in history of Arctic Rosneft will carry out integrated ecologic fishery research on three licensed sites (LS) of Laptev Sea: Anisinsko-Novosibirsky, Ust’ Lensky and Ust’ Oleneksky. The Program of ecologic fishery research realization is the first and obligatory part of licensed sites water areas geologic research, which includes geological and ichthyological surveys. As a result of the research an integrated picture of original (background) ecological state will be received. The field investigations with two vessels will last for 90 days. FEPCO & Far Eastern Branch of RAS Sign Scientific and Technical Deal

Far Eastern Petrochemical Company and Far Eastern Russian Academy of Sciences division have signed an agreement on scientific and technical collaboration. As part of the agreement Far Eastern Petrochemical Company (FEPCO) and Far Eastern branch of Russian Academy of Sciences (FEBRAS) are going to realize a number of research programs relating to high-performance energy- and resource-saving technologies in the sphere of complex hydrocarbons processing. Moreover, the base of FEBRAS will be used as a site for training FEPCO specialists in the course of their doctorate studies at Academy of Sciences regional branches institutes. The term of the contract is up to 2022.

Rosneft Recognized Leader In Contribution To Environmental Protection

Rosneft won international public award The Tree of Ecology in the category of ‘Company leader in contribution to environmental protection measures’ during the celebration of world environment day, the Ecologist Day, and a 10th anniversary of Federal Service for Supervision of Nature Resources in Grand Kremlin Palace. The event organized by Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage and Environment Protection Fund ‘Nature’ brought together officials, members of Russian Academy of Sciences, leaders of environmental non-governmental organizations. In the 2009-2014 timeframe, cumulative costs of Rosneft on environmental protection measures amounted to 125 billion rubles.
