Kannad SAFELINK EPIRBs Recalled
Kannad Marine has issued a recall of all SAFELINK EPIRBs due to a possible defect that could result in the beacon not operating in emergency situations, the U.S. Coast Guard said in a marine safety alert. Those who own or use a SAFELINK EPIRB automatic or manual model as included in the attached SAFELINK Recall Safety Notice you should NOT use it as a primary Search and Rescue beacon onboard your vessel. Kannad recommends that all owners of SAFELINK EPIRBs register their ownership, location and contact details via the dedicated website: http://www.safelinkepirbsupport.co.uk .
Voluntary Recall of SAFELINK EPIRBs Announced
Safety Alert- Kannad Marine has instigated a voluntary global recall program for its SAFELINK auto and manual emergency position indicating radio beacons (EPIRBs). This is due to a potential issue where the SAFELINK EPIRB’s yellow body plastic may prematurely age when subjected to specific environmental conditions. This has the potential to impact on its long-term effectiveness in the field and could result in the beacon not operating in an emergency situation. Orolia Limited, Kannad Marine’s owner, has released a Recall Procedure which has further details, and includes a link for owners to follow and complete.
