Topaz Selects ABS Fleet Management Software

Offshore support vessel company Topaz Energy and Marine has selected ABS as its fleet management software provider. Topaz will install the ABS Nautical Systems Fleet Management Software suite on 58 of its core vessels to more efficiently plan for maintenance work, minimize downtime and reduce costs associated with drydocking. Seabulk Selects ABS-NS SafeNet

Seabulk Offshore Ltd., has selected ABS Nautical Systems SafeNet fleet management system for 14 supply, crew and utility boats operating in the US Gulf of Mexico. "The strength of the SafeNet system is the complete integration that exists between the various management modules," said ABS Nautical Systems' senior business development manager Joe Woods. Seabulk Offshore has contracted for the Maintenance & Repair, Purchasing & Inventory and Financial Reporting modules. Cummins Awards ABS ERO Status for Diesel Engine Certification Worldwide

Cummins Inc. has selected ABS as a Recognized Organization for engines (ERO). In that role ABS will be able to issue Engine International Air Pollution Prevention Certificates (EIAPP) to Cummins machinery for compliance with IMO’s MARPOL Annex VI NOx Technical Code governing NOx emissions of ship based diesel engines with power output over 130 kW. ABS has been actively assisting owners to obtain the EIAPP certificates required by the air emissions pollution prevention control regulations established by the IMO in this Annex. In particular, ABS has provided guidance for compliance with nitrogen oxide (NOx) requirements for owners seeking NOx engine certification.

ABS, Golar Strike FLNG Deal

ABS Group subsidiary Genesis Technology Solutions, Inc. (GenesisSolutions) won a contract by Golar LNG to develop an intelligent maintenance strategy for the company’s new fleet of floating LNG (FLNG) vessels usingthe GoFLNG floating liquefaction technology. ABS Group will assist Golar LNG with implementing the Maximo computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to support its asset management program. ABS Group will provide a model for asset data, criticality rankings, spare parts analysis, a risk-based inspection strategy, failure mode and effects analysis and a maintenance program for the first GoFLNG facility under construction, the Hilli, which will operate off the coast of Cameroon, as well as for future vessels.

E-Ships, Inc. Selects ABS-NS SafeNet Fleet Management Software

New York based E-Ships, Inc., which operates four container carriers, has contracted with ABS Nautical Systems for five modules from the company's suite of advanced SafeNet fleet management system software. E-Ships, Inc. has contracted for the Maintenance & Repair, Inventory Control, Crew Management, ISM/STCW Compliance and Replication Manager modules of ABS NS SafeNet. According to ABS NS Senior Business Developer Joe Woods, this contract from E-Ships, Inc. is part of a growing trend by operators looking to replace in-house developed systems with a more powerful and fully integrated suite of IT products.

Fugro Gulf Selects ABS NS SafeNet Fleet Management Software

Fugro Gulf Inc., a leader in the provision of offshore geotechnical services, has contracted with ABS Nautical Systems for seven modules from their suite of advanced SafeNet fleet management system software. Fugro Gulf's contracted ship management company, New Offshore Inc., Morgan City, LA, will use the modules and manage vessel operational activities on behalf of Fugro Gulf Inc. Fugro Gulf Inc. has contracted for the Maintenance & Repair, Purchasing & Inventory Control, Replication Manager & Financial Reporting, ISM/STCW Compliance and Document Management modules of ABS NS SafeNet. They will also use the Vessel Drawings module.

ABS to Class Newbuild Semisubmersible, Liftboat

Baoham Offshore (HK) Ltd. has selected ABS to provide classification services for newbuilds in China. ABS, a provider of marine and offshore classification services, has been selected by Baoham Offshore (HK) Ltd. to class a drilling semisubmersible and a liftboat. "This award is a reflection of the solid reputation ABS has built as a classification society over more than 30 years in China," said ABS Executive Vice President of Energy Project Development Ken Richardson. According to Baoham Offshore General Manager Xu Jun, the company's goal is to be a first mover in China.

ABS to Class Harvey Gulf’s Dual Fueled OSVs

Harvey Gulf International Marine has selected ABS as the class society for its two new dual fueled LNG-powered offshore supply vessels (OSVs) being constructed at Trinity Offshore LLC. The vessels will be among the first to be classed under the ABS Guide for Propulsion and Auxiliary Systems for Gas Fueled Ships released in May of 2011. ABS Named Best Regional Class Society

ABS to Class Ensco Deepwater Drillships

Ensco plc has selected ABS as the class society for its advanced-capability, ultra deepwater drillship to be built at the Samsung Heavy Industries, Co. Ltd (SHI) Shipyard in Geoje, South Korea. The ENSCO DS-8 will be the sixth Samsung DP3 drillship in the fleet and will extend the benefits of Ensco’s fleet standardization strategy. With drilling capabilities in water depths to 12,000 feet and a total vertical drilling depth of 40,000 feet, this new vessel will meet the demands of ultra deepwater drilling. “Samsung is the market leader in drillship newbuilds and utilizes advanced shipbuilding technology. Euronav Commends ABS NS for Hull Inspection Module

ABS Nautical Systems announced its successful partnership with Euronav Ship Management (Hellas) Ltd., one of the world’s leading tanker companies. Euronav selected ABS Nautical Systems as its asset management provider in 2009 and was the first adopter of the Hull Inspection module. The Hull Inspection module is a browser-based tool that helps track the structural condition of a vessel throughout its service life. Euronav currently uses the Hull Inspection module on 11 of its ABS classed tankers. However, given its successful use of the program to date, the company plans to continue expanding use of the program to additional vessels. “Prior to implementing Hull Inspection, we used hard-copy forms that made it difficult to organize, assess and identify conditions.

ABS Rolls Out New Fleet Management Software

ABS announced the release of its Nautical Systems (NS) Enterprise fleet management software, including NS Insight, a new business intelligence module. The NS solution provides complete capabilities to plan, execute and document all compliance work processes. The release includes a new cloud-based NS Voyage Manager, the latest mobile applications, an expanded NS Autologger, and enhancements to NS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) Manager. “Effectively managing compliance is a core business objective for our clients,” said ABS Chief Digital Officer, Howard Fireman.

ABS Updates DPS Reguirements

ABS, a leading provider of classification services to the global offshore industry,releases the 'ABS Guide for Dynamic Positioning Systems'. The publication is seen as a significant update to present classification requirements to reflect industry advancements in the use of dynamic positioning (DP) systems. “The use of DP systems has been expanded not only in terms of the number of vessels outfitted with the systems, but also in the increasing advancement of DP technologies,” says Vice President, Energy Project Development, Ken Richardson, noting that the vast majority of newbuild floating mobile offshore drilling units will have DP capability.

Tidewater Selects ABS Nautical Systems

ABS Nautical Systems was selected by Tidewater Inc. to trial its fleet management software. With this partnership, ABS Nautical Systems intends to become Tidewater’s global fleet management software provider. ABS Nautical Systems Expands in Dubai

ABS Nautical Systems announced that they have been selected as the fleet management software provider of Dubai company Stanford Marine, LLC a provider of offshore marine support services. ABS Nautical Systems’ work with Stanford Marine marks continued expansion in Dubai, with several companies now using the NS5 software suite in the Emirates. Stanford Marine is changing from a paper and Microsoft Excel system to ABS Nautical Systems’ software suite NS5, a fully integrated system to allow for a more streamlined approach to fleet management. Stanford Marine will implement the Maintenance & Repair and Vessel Drawings modules on a total of 25 vessels, all of which are classed with ABS.

ABS said it has been selected by Dorian LPG to provide an in-depth techno-economic analysis, laying out compliance options for impending global sulfur cap requirements.
