Petrobas CEO Forbes' Top Global Leader Outside USA

For the second year running Petrobras CEO, Maria das Graças Silva Foster, is ranked by the American magazine Fortune the most powerful female executive in the world, among an international list of business women from various industries. Graça Foster has topped the listings for female executives outside the United States. To prepare the global ranking of the Most Powerful Women in Business, Fortune selected a group of 50 candidates from various countries, such as England, Australia, Sweden, and Turkey.

Petrobas to Beef Up IT Security After Alleged Hacking

Petrobras will invest R$ 4-billion in information technology and security in 2013
 demonstrating the company's commitment to protecting its data. Millions of e-mails were pre-emptively blocked iin the span of a recent month. The president of Petrobras, Maria das Graças Silva Foster said at a public hearing at the Senate, that the Company will invest R$ 4 billion in 2013 and R$ 21.2 billion between 2013-2017 in Information Technology and Telecommunications. During the joint hearing with the Parliamentary Commission for the Espionage Inquiry and the Economic Affairs and Foreign Relations committees in the Senate, the President explained that the company had constantly monitored and protected its information. As an example, she cited the quantity of emails that are preemptively blocked.

Petrobras CEO welcomed U.S. Vice-President and diplomats to the company's Research Center (Cenpes) in Rio de Janeiro. The company's CEO, Maria das Graças Silva Foster, welcomed the U.S. vice-president, Joe Biden, along with the US ambassador to Brazil, Thomas Shannon, and the US consul general in Rio de Janeiro, John Creamer. The group held a 30-minute closed meeting, which was also attended by Cenpes executive manager Marcos Assayag, advisor to the CEO André Garcez Ghirardi and Brazilian Foreign Affairs Ministry (Itamaraty) representative William Santos.

MAN B&W Units Power Brazilian Resurgence

Naming ceremony in 2010 for the ‘João Candido‘, the first Suezmax tanker in a series of ten built by Estaleiro Atlântico Sul for TransPetro and a sister ship to ‘Zumbi dos Palmares’. MAN Diesel & Turbo representatives attended the delivery ceremony of the Suezmax tanker Zumbi dos Palmares. Powered by an MAN B&W 6S70ME-C type prime mover and three MAN 7L23/30H auxiliary engines, the vessel is the second ship built by Estaleiro Atlantico Sul (EAS) stemming from the Brazilian Government’s PROMEF shipbuilding program. The ceremony took place at the EAS shipyard in northeastern Brazil and was attended by the President of Brazil – Dilma Rouseff, President of Petrobras – Maria das Graças Silva Foster and President of Transpetro – Sergio Machado.

MAN Diesel & Turbo diesel engines power the tanker, the second PROMEF ship built by Estaleiro Atlantico Sul (EAS). Powered by an MAN B&W 6S70ME-C type prime mover and 3 × MAN 7L23/30H auxiliary engines, the delivery ceremony of the ‘Zumbi dos Palmares’ was attended by the President of Brazil – Dilma Rouseff, President of Petrobras – Maria das Graças Silva Foster, and President of Transpetro – Sergio Machado. “We are proud to participate in this new chapter of Brazilian shipbuilding history”…

Petrobas CEO to Deliver Keynote Address at Nor-Shipping 2013

Petrobras CEO, Maria das Graças Silva Foster – named one of the world’s 100 most influential people by Time magazine in 2012 – will be a keynote speaker for the New Frontiers roundtable at Nor-Shipping’s Agenda Offshore conference on June 5. Foster will be joined by top executives from two other world-leading oil and gas companies. Statoil CEO Helge Lund and Royal Dutch Shell Upstream International Director Andy Brown will speak at the event, the second time Nor-Shipping hosts a conference connecting the offshore industry and the maritime industry.
