PSV Gets Superstructure Module
The Platform Supply Vessel (NB 126) under construction at Norway's Simek Shipyard has its deckouse module lifted on board The UT 755 LC is a Rolls-Royce design with deck machinery and propulsion equipment designed and manufactured by Rolls-Royce. It is designed specifically for supplying equipment to oil and gas platforms. The vessel will have an extended hull and larger deck space to increase the capacity for transportation of solid and liquid cargo. Delivery is due mid-July 2012 to owners Duh Boats 2 Partnership C.V.
Rolls-Royce Gets Offshore Vessel Contracts
Rolls-Royce has won contracts worth $76 million to supply design and equipment packages for nine offshore service vessels which will be built in four different shipyards for owners in Brazil, France, Norway and the U.S. The ship designs and packages of Rolls-Royce equipment will be supplied in 2002 and 2003, and the shipyards, located in Brazil, Denmark and Norway are scheduled to deliver the vessels in 2003 and 2004. There are currently 71 offshore service vessels of the type UT-Design from Rolls Royce on order or under construction around the world. Seabulk Acquires Newbuild PSV
Seabulk International, Inc. has purchased and delivered o the Seabulk Africa, a newbuild UT-755L platform supply vessel (PSV) built at the Simek Shipyard in Norway. The 5,500-horsepower, 236-ft. vessel will join the Company's West African fleet, which presently comprises 42 vessels ranging from crewboats to sophisticated anchor handlers. PSVs are large, multipurpose vessels used to ferry equipment, supplies and personnel to offshore platforms and rigs engaged in the production of crude oil and natural gas. "This is a state-of-the-art vessel and the Cadillac of the industry," commented Hubert E. Thyssen, corporate vice president and senior vice president of marketing for Seabulk Offshore, the Company's offshore vessels subsidiary.
