On 9 October 2017, Orest Sychenikov, first Head of Novorossiysk Shipping Company, passed away at the age of 95. On 9 October 2017, we lost a highly educated man, a talented leader who made a massive contribution to the strengthening and development of Russian maritime navigation. Orest Sychenikov was born on 28 June 1922. In 1941, he was called up to the Red Army to fight in the Second World War, during which was seriously wounded in 1943.
Moody's Rates Sovcomflot Ba2: Negative Financial Outlook
Moody's Investors Service says it has confirmed the Ba2 corporate family rating (CFR) and the Ba2-PD probability of default rating (PDR) of Sovcomflot JSC with $800 million of rated debt affected. Concurrently, Moody's has confirmed Sovcomflot's Ba3 senior unsecured issuer rating and the Ba3 senior unsecured rating assigned to the $800 million Eurobond issued by SCF Capital Limited, which is a 100% indirect subsidiary of Sovcomflot (Sovcomflot guarantees the Eurobond). The outlook on all ratings is negative.
Sovcomflot Inks $180 Mn Credit for Two Shuttle Tanker
On 23 November 2016, Sovcomflot and Sberbank signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) paving the way for a new USD 180 million long-term credit agreement with a term of up to 15 years. On behalf of the parties the MOU was signed by Sergey Frank, Chairman and CEO of Sovcomflot, and Herman Gref, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank. Sovcomflot is one of the world’s leaders in energy shipping as well as in servicing offshore upstream oil and gas projects. SCF's Profit Zoom Fourfold
SCF Group (PAO Sovcomflot) reported steep jump in their net profit to USD 354.5 million from USD 83.9 million in the earlier year. Its gross revenue increased by 7.6 per cent to USD 1,483 million (2014: USD 1,378 million) and its time charter equivalent revenue rose by 18.8 per cent to USD 1,240.1 million (2014: USD 1,044.0 million). The company said that its total future contracted revenues amounted to USD 8.5 billion. During the year LNG carriers SCF Melampus and SCF Mitre (each 170,200 m3 capacity) were delivered and commenced long-term time charters to Royal Dutch Shell.

Venezuela's state-run oil company, PDVSA, sent a tanker in October to the Caribbean with the expectation that its cargo of crude would fetch about $20 million - money the crisis-stricken nation desperately needs. Instead, the owner of the tanker, the Russian state-owned shipping conglomerate Sovcomflot, held the oil in hopes of collecting partial payment on $30 million that it says PDVSA owes for unpaid shipping fees. Despite a longstanding alliance between Venezuela and Russia, Sovcomflot sued PDVSA in St. Maarten, a Dutch island on the northeast end of the Caribbean. Sovcomfloat Signs Loan Agreement
Sovcomflot Group and German bank HSH Nordbank AG have signed a Loan Agreement of $434m. HSH Nordbank is mandated lead arranger and is providing senior debt for the transaction. The signing ceremony attended by Sergey Frank, President and CEO of Sovcomflot and Hans Berger, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of HSH Nordbank, took place in Hamburg. The purpose of the Loan Facility with final maturity date in 2021 is to provide the financing of six vessels, i.e. three unique Arctic tankers to be deployed for long-term operation in Barents Sea, as well as three product-carriers. ING Bank N.V. has been working as structuring bank and financial advisor for Sovcomflot under above Loan Facility. Arctic OSV Named at Arctech Yard
Arctic offshore vessel NB 507 has been named after Russian Navigator Aleksey Chirikov at Arctech Helsinki Shipyard. The vessel will be delivered to the largest Russian shipping company Sovcomflot shortly and will continue its path straight to Sakhalin area in Far East Russia, where it will supply the Arkutun-Dagi oil and gas field. Arctech has built two arctic offshore supply vessels for Russian company Sovcomflot, which specialises in hydrocarbon transportation from Arctic and subarctic regions with challenging icy conditions.
Northern Sea Route Record Transit by Gazprom Tankship
The Russian Gazprom tankship 'SCF Amur' recently transited the Northern Sea Route in a record 7-days. In January 2012 Gazprom and Sovcomflot reached an agreement on arranging a test shipment via the Northern Sea Route to deliver the Gazprom hydrocarbons to the Asia-Pacific market, taking into account the growing urgency for energy resources supplies to the region. The recemt passage of the SCF Amur became the fourth transit passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean through the Arctic for Sovcomflot.
Sovcomflot Group, Sberbank CIB Sign Credit Facility Agreement
Sovcomflot Group and Sberbank CIB have signed a 14-year $340 million credit facility agreement to finance the construction of three Arctic shuttle tankers for the Novy Port project (project operator: Gazprom eft). Novy Port is one of the largest oil and gas condensate deposits on the Yamal peninsula in Russia. The vessels will serve as part of project infrastructure designed to enable year-round shipment of crude oil from an offshore loading terminal in the Gulf of Ob. DSME, Sovcomflot Delay Delivery of First Arctic LNG carrier
South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) and Sovcomflot have agreed to delay a liquefied natural gas carrier being built for the Yamal LNG project in Russia. According DSME statement the vessel, which was originally scheduled for June this year re-set the delivery date, will now be delivered in January 2017. No details have been disclosed on the reasons of the delay. Hyundai Heavy Wins Russian Bid for 12-Ship Contract
South Korea’s troubled shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. announced that it has been selected as the preferred bidder for a 12-oil tanker contract worth $660 million of Russia’s Sovcomflot, reports Korea Herald. Russia’s largest state-owned shipping company Sovcomflot last month chose the South Korean shipbuilder as preferred bidder to build 12 oil tankers which will be used to carry crude oil produced in Russia to overseas. Sovocomflot will charter the fleet to Shell. Sovcomflot is a state-owned shipping company that specializes in petroleum and LNG shipping.
Polarcus Amani Delivered to Sovcomflot
A 5.5 year bareboat charter agreement between Polarcus Limited Norwegian subsidiary Polarcus Amani AS and SCF GEO AS (Sovcomflot) has been signed, and the vessel delivered to Sovcomflot in Bergen. The vessel was delivered without streamers, providing the Polarcus fleet with one excess streamer package, which the company said will significantly reduce its capital expenditure requirements through 2017 and 2018. The Polarcus Group now has two vessels on long-term bareboat charter and operates a fleet of four vessels in the contract market.
Sovcomflot Revises Pricing on USD 7-year Bond
Russian shipping company Sovcomflot has cut the yield on its seven-year U.S. dollar bond to 5.375 percent - 5.5 percent, according to a lead. The notes will price within that range. The latest level compares with guidance of 5.625 percent area and initial price thoughts of 5.75 percent area. The benchmark-sized notes are expected to price later today. Citigroup, ING, JP Morgan, Sberbank and VTB Capital are the lead managers. Sovcomflot is rated Ba1/BB+/BB. (Reporting by Sudip Roy)
Samsung Wins Tanker Contract
According to a Korea Herald report, Samsung Heavy Industries Co. won a $422.5 million deal to build three arctic tankers for Russian state-owned shipper Sovcomflot. Samsung is the first Korean shipbuilder to receive an order for ice-breaking oil-carriers. Sovcomflot plans to operate the artic tankers over the Barents Sea between the Varandiy oil well in the Arctic Ocean and Murmansk harbor in Russia, according to the report. Tanker for Sovcomflot Delivered
STX Shipbuilding delivered the new product tanker, SKF Neva, to Sovcomflot JSÑ. The first product tanker of the series, the keel was laid on May 30, 2006. The 600 x 106 ft.-tanker is 46.520 tons dwt. The tanker, to be deployed from Primorje, including Vladivostok, to the ports of the South-East Asia, will transport crude oil, oil products, vegetable oils and coal oils. Source: SeaNews
Joint Cooperation for Stena Bulk, Sovcomflot
The tanker Stena Arctica will be named in the Port of Göteborg. With its 117,100 dwt, the vessel is the largest Swedish flagged ship in the Swedish merchant navy and the world’s largest tanker with the highest class in service. The Stena Arctica, in cooperation with Sovcomflot – the largest shipping company in Russia – will mainly transport Russian crude oil from the Gulf of Finland to the Continent. The cooperation between the shipping companies Stena Bulk and Sovcomflot includes building up a pool of 10-15 ice-strengthened tankers, due to begin in February, 2006. The objective is to ship 20-25 million tons of Russian oil per year from the Baltic to the UK/Continent. Stena Bulk and Sovcomfolt also plan to jointly develop a so-called B-MAX tanker, with B standing for Baltic.
