Maersk to Lift the Lid on Digital Disruption

Maersk is set to unveil the thinking behind its recent tie-ups with IBM and China’s Alibaba when the firm’s Chief Digital Officer, Ibrahim Gokcen, takes the stage at this year’s Nor-Shipping. Navico Acquires MARIS; Expands Portfolio

Navico Holding AS, parent company to the Simrad brand of navigational marine electronics, has reached an agreement to acquire MARIS (Maritime Information Systems A/S) from The Grieg Group. MARIS is a supplier of data solutions to the commercial maritime sector related to navigation, voyage optimization and voyage monitoring. With well more than 10,000 navigation systems delivered, MARIS is a supplier of ECDIS systems globally. The MARIS ECDIS, radar/ARPA overlay to ECDIS, and VDR solutions complement Navico’s Simrad product portfolio, the company said.

Japanese Fleet ECDIS Contract for Cornes-MARIS Alliance

Norwegian maritime electronics specialist MARIS and Japanese high-tech firm Cornes & Co., Ltd. say they have won their first contract to deliver ECDIS equipment for the entire vessel fleet controlled by an unspecified Tokyo-based ship management company. The order will see MARIS ECDIS900 delivered for 20 bulk carriers, including 12 newbuilds, while installation onboard further bulk carriers is under consideration. The agreement calls for MARIS to provide an intensive technical training program for engineers in the Consilium network, covering competence in all MARIS products, ranging from single installation ECDIS to complete, fully integrated packages containing VDR, triple ECDIS, conning, Radar Overlay, Voyage Decision Support and all Digital Service. MARIS is a systems house with experience in maritime on-board systems. The company says it has delivered thousands of navigation systems to customers all over the world. The majority owner of the company is the Grieg Group, which boasts a long maritime tradition. Consilium develops and markets products and systems for safety, automation, environment and navigation incluiding  fire protection, gas detection as well as navigational equipment.

Grieg Shipping Chooses AMOS

The Norwegian company ‘Grieg Shipping Group’, has signed a contract with SpecTec Norway for the  supply of  AMOS  software. Grieg Shipping Group belongs to the Grieg Group, one of the largest Management Service Companies of Scandinavia.
