HMK Scoops Major Naval Comms Order
ATLAS ELEKTRONIK subsidiary Hagenuk Marinekommunikation (HMK) has been commissioned by the âARGE K130 2nd Batchâ consortium to supply integrated communication systems for units 6 to 10 of the Type K130 corvettes for the German Navy.The scope of supply includes radios of the complete telecommunications spectrum from 10 kHz to 20 GHz, which enable information to be exchanged with other ships, boats or shore stations via special input devices in the form of voice and data radio. These intelligent communication systems offer users the greatest possible support in their tasks and thus make a significant contribution to the reliable operation of ships and their crews.
Denel-tkMS MOU for Submarine Upgrades
As Denel gets ready to revive the Naval Dockyard facilities in Simonstown, the company is collaborating with ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems GmbH (tkMS) for joint support of the SA Navy frigates and submarines. Denel, which is a global supplier of world-class defence products and solutions, and tkMS signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on board the SAS AMATOLA, in Rostock, Germany. The cooperation is based on the recognition of the critical importance of the operational availability of the South African Navy Fleet at all times. Kongsberg, TKMS, Atlas Elektronik JV for Submarine
Kongsberg, ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems GmbH(TKMS) and Atlas Elektronik enter into a comprehensive teaming agreement for submarines. The companies join resources and establish a joint venture company in Norway that will be the international strategic and exclusive supplier of combat systems for thyssenkrupp Marine Systemsâ submarines. On February 3rd 2017, the Norwegian Government announced that Germany was chosen as strategic partner for new submarines, and that Norway enters into negotiation with prime contractor thyssenkrupp Marine Systems. Following the decision, Kongsberg, thyssenkrupp Marine Systems and Atlas Elektronik today entered into a comprehensive teaming agreement. As part of this agreement, the partners will establish a new company based in Norway.
ThyssenKrupp Sells Emden Shipyard
ThyssenKrupp and Seafort Advisors GmbH have entered into an agreement on the sale of the Emder Werft und Dockbetriebe shipyard in Emden. ThyssenKrupp began looking into alternative strategic options for the company at the end of 2013 as part of the group's strategic way forward. The aim was to find a way of continuing the repair business outside the group against the background of the decision to focus ThyssenKrupp's shipbuilding operations on surface vessels and submarines. In Seafort Advisors a suitable partner has now been found to position the repair operation successfully on the market on a sustainable basis. The closing of the sale is subject to the necessary licenses and approvals and is planned for the first quarter of the 2015 calendar year.
GE Gas Turbine Powers German Navy Frigate
GE Marine reports that the German Navyâs Baden-Württemberg(F125-class) frigatewas christened in December 2013, powered by a GE LM2500 gas turbine-based propulsion system. The christening ceremony was held at ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems in Hamburg, Germany. According Dr. MTU Friedrichshafen, a GE Marine System Supplier, provided the shipâs propulsion module, which includes one LM2500 gas turbine, two electric motors and four diesel generator-sets in a combined diesel-electric and gas turbine (CODLAG) propulsion arrangement.

Alexander Kocherscheidt to Become Managing Director at Atlas Elektronik
On 1 March 2013, Alexander Kocherscheidt (39) will commence his duties as Managing Director of Atlas Elektronik. As Chief Financial Officer, he will be responsible for the Finance Division as well as for the Human Resources, Legal and Compliance Divisions. With a degree in business law, he currently holds the position of CFO at Regional Centre British Islands of ThyssenKrupp Elevator, which has its headquarters in London.
