Shipping freight rates for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe plunged by 27.9 percent to $295 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ending on Friday, one source with access to data from the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index told Reuters. Maersk Line to Increase Asia-Europe Rates

Maersk Line, part of Denmark's A. P. Moller-Maersk, plans to increase shipping freight rates for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe by $400 per 20-foot container (TEU) from Feb. 1, it said on Tuesday. Rates on the route, the world's busiest for container shipping, jumped 24.6 percent to $1,256 per TEU last week, data showed on Monday The Danish shipping company controls around one fifth of all transported containers from Asia to Europe. Asia-Europe Box Rates Plunge Again

Shipping freight rates for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe fell by 23.2 percent to $640 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ending on Friday, one source with access to data from the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index told Reuters. The drop came after a similar fall of 24.9 percent in the previous week. Freight rates on the world's busiest shipping route have tanked this year due to overcapacity in available vessels and sluggish demand in goods to be transported. Rates generally deemed profitable for shipping companies on the route are at about $800-$1,000 per TEU. In the week to Friday, container freight rates fell 24.8 percent from Asia to ports in the Mediterranean, but rose 11.5 percent to ports on the U.S.

Asia to Northern Europe Shipping Rates Jump 177%

Asia to Northern Europe shipping freight rates for transporting containers jumped by 177.3 percent to $1.109 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ended on Friday, reports Reuters, quoting data from the Shanghai Shipping Exchange. As all major container shipping lines implemented a price hike announced earlier, the  freight rates rose nearly three-fold. Freight rates on the world’s busiest shipping route have tanked this year due to overcapacity in available vessels and sluggish demand in goods to be transported.

Shipping freight rates for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe fell by 23 percent to $332 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ended on Friday, one source with access to data from the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index told Reuters. The current level is widely seen as a loss-making for container shipping companies that transport everything from flat-screen TVs to sportswear from Asia to Northern Europe. In the week to Friday, container freight rates dropped 24.2 percent from Asia to ports in the Mediterranean, fell 19.0 percent to ports on the U.S.

Asia-Europe Container Freight Rates Fell 2.7 pct

Shipping freight rates for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe fell 2.7 percent to $719 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ended on Friday, one source with access to data from the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index told Reuters. It was the fifth consecutive week of falling freight rates on the world's busiest route. Container freight rates have so far increased in 12 weeks this year but fallen in 36 weeks. A level below $1,000 is widely seen as loss-making for container shipping companies. In the week to Friday, container freight rates fell 3.9 percent from Asia to ports in the Mediterranean, and dropped 4.2 percent to ports on the U.S. West Coast and were down 1.4 percent to ports on the U.S. East Coast.

It was the second consecutive week of rising freight rates on the world's busiest route. Container freight rates have so far increased in 5 weeks this year but fallen in 20 weeks. In the week to Friday, container freight rates jumped 39.4 percent from Asia to ports in the Mediterranean, rose 15.6 percent to ports on the U.S.

Shipping freight rates for transporting containers from Asia to Northern Europe fell 23 percent to $588 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ended Friday, a source with access to data from the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index told Reuters. The fall came after two weeks with rising freight rates on the world's busiest route. Container freight rates have so far increased in 8 weeks this year but fallen in 27 weeks. In the week to Friday, container freight rates fell 29 percent from Asia the Mediterranean while they rose 0.3 percent to the U.S. West Coast and were down 0.1 percent to the U.S. East Coast. Average rates for 2015 are $664 per TEU, compared with $1,172 last year.

Shipping freight rates for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe fell by 6.6 percent to $1.149 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ended on Friday, data from the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index showed. It was the second consecutive week of falling freight rates on the world's busiest route. Container freight rates have in 2014 increased in 13 weeks but fallen in 38 weeks. In the week to Friday, container freight rates fell 6.4 percent from Asia to ports in the Mediterranean, fell 5.2 percent to ports on the U.S.

Asia-Europe Container Rates Fall Almost 11 pct

Shipping freight rates for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe fell by 10.7 percent to $1,198 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ended on Friday, a source with access to data from the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index told Reuters. It was the second consecutive week of falling freight rates on the world's busiest route. Container freight rates have so far increased in 10 weeks this year but fallen in 23 weeks. Average rates for 2014 are $1,278 per TEU compared with $1,090 last year. The comprehensive index fell 2 percent to $1,172 per TEU.

Reportedly, shipping freight rates for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe fell by 5.5 percent to $1,230 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ended on Friday, a source with access to data from the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index told Reuters. It was the second consecutive week of falling freight rates on the world's busiest route. Container freight rates have so far increased in nine weeks this year but fallen in 20 weeks. Average rates for 2014 are $1,275 per TEU compared with $1,090 last year. The comprehensive index fell 1.8 percent to $1,080 per TEU.

It was the fourth consecutive week of falling freight rates on the world's busiest route. Container freight rates have so far increased two weeks this year but fallen for five. In the week to Friday, container freight rates fell 6.1 percent from Asia to ports in the Mediterranean, fell 11.3 percent to ports on the U.S.

Shipping freight rates for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe surged 327.7 percent to $988 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ended on Friday, one source with access to data from the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index told Reuters. The fourfold increase was the result of planned rate increased announced earlier in October by the majority of the largest shipping companies. In the week to Friday, container freight rates jumped 298 percent from Asia to ports in the Mediterranean, rose 16.9 percent to ports on the U.S.

Shipping freight rates for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe fell 8.3 percent to $1,057 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ended on Friday, one source with access to data from the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index told Reuters. It was the second consecutive week of falling freight rates on the world's busiest route. In the week to Friday, container freight rates fell 3.8 percent from Asia to ports in the Mediterranean, rose 13.3 percent to ports on the U.S. West Coast and were up 6.2 percent to ports on the U.S. East Coast.

Shipping freight rates for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe jumped 88.2 percent to $1,312 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ended on Friday, one source with access to data from the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index told Reuters. The increase reversed the weekly declines that have lasted the past 12 weeks and saw rates drop to a yearly low of $697 per TEU. Maersk Line, the global market leader with nearly 600 container vessels and part of Danish oil and shipping group A.P.

Shipping freight rates for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe fell 31.8 percent to $674 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ended on Friday, one source with access to data from the Shanghai Shipping Exchange told Reuters. The drop came after spot freight rates on the world's busiest route soared 328 percent last week as shipping companies implemented scheduled rate hikes with effect from Nov 1. In the week to Friday, container freight rates fell 19.7 percent from Asia to ports in the Mediterranean, fell 19.1 percent to ports on the U.S. West Coast and were down 14.4 percent to ports on the U.S. East Coast. Maersk Line, the global market leader with more than 600 container vessels and part of Danish oil and shipping group A.P.

Shipping freight rates for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe dropped 50.4 percent to $275 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ended on Friday, one source with access to data from the Shanghai Shipping Exchange told Reuters. The drop came after spot freight rates on the world's busiest route soared 88 percent last week as shipping companies implemented scheduled rate hikes with effect from Dec 1. In the week to Friday, container freight rates rose 24.6 percent from Asia to ports in the Mediterranean, fell 4.8 percent to ports on the U.S.

Shipping freight rates for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe jumped 156 percent to $703 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ended on Friday, one source with access to data from the Shanghai Shipping Exchange told Reuters. The rise came after shipping companies implemented scheduled rate hikes on the world's busiest route and after rates dropped 50 percent last week. In the week to Friday, container freight rates dropped 25 percent from Asia to ports in the Mediterranean, fell 6.4 percent to ports on the U.S.

Shipping freight rates for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe jumped 115 percent to $1,232 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ended on Friday, data from the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index showed. Average rates for 2015 were $620.30 per TEU compared with $1,171.50 in the previous year. In the week to Friday, container freight rates soared 146.5 percent from Asia to ports in the Mediterranean, jumped 98.2 percent to ports on the U.S. West Coast and were up 76.5 percent to ports on the U.S. East Coast.

Shipping freight rates for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe rose by 2.7 percent to $573 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ended on Friday, data from the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index showed. Average rates for 2015 were $607.82 per TEU compared with $1,171,50 the previous year. In the week to Friday, container freight rates rose 6.8 percent from Asia to ports in the Mediterranean, fell 0.3 percent to ports on the U.S. West Coast and were down 0.4 percent to ports on the U.S. East Coast.

Shipping freight rates for transporting containers from ports in Asia to Northern Europe fell 5.5 percent to $586 per 20-foot container (TEU) in the week ended on Friday, a source with access to data from the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index told Reuters. It was the eighth consecutive week with falling freight rates on the world's busiest trade route and the current level is the lowest since June 2013. In the week to Friday, container freight rates dropped 9.0 percent from Asia to ports in the Mediterranean, and fell 2.7 percent to ports on the U.S.

Shipping freight rates for transporting containers on the world's busiest route have dropped by more than 20 percent for the second consecutive week and are now at their lowest level since July 24. Spot rates fell 22.4 percent to $456 from ports in Asia to Northern Europe after a fall of 22.9 percent last week, one source with access to data from the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index told Reuters. Container freight rates have so far increased in 8 weeks this year but fallen in 28 weeks.
