Anchor Handling 'World Record' for Island Offshore's Vessel

Norwegian offshore vessel operator Island Offshore has recently set what it says is a world record with its deep-water installation vessel Island Victory during pre-laying of anchors at Lundin Energy's Solveig field in the North Sea, off Norway."The anchors are fastened by pulling them with such great force that they embed themselves into the seabed. Vryhof Anchors Announces Stevshark Rex Contracts

Vryhof Anchors, a Vryhof company, has announced a number of contracts for its’ Stevshark Rex anchoring solution with Anglo-French independent operator Perenco and its Congolese subsidiary Perenco Congo SA; Maersk Drilling in Trinidad; and international EPC contactor CNGS Group. In addition, two Stevshark Rex’s will also be deployed by Jan De Nul Group, a dredging, offshore, civil and environmental contractor.The contracts confirm the Stevshark Rex - with versions ranging from three to 60 metric tons (mT) - as the new industry standard in hard soils…

Vryhof Expands Its Global Footprint

Vryhof, a provider of anchoring and mooring solutions, said it is expanding its global footprint with its companies Deep Sea Mooring (DSM) opening a new office in Aberdeen and Vryhof Anchors appointing Singapore-based Franklin Offshore as its exclusive representative for selling Vryhof solutions in a number of Asia Pacific countries. “In an industry that has seen considerable negativity over the past year, this is a real statement of intent by Vryhof on our ambitions to expand our products and services in new markets and meet increased demand,” said Wolfgang Wandl, CEO of Vryhof.

Vryhof Makes Two Senior Appointments

Anchoring and mooring solutions provider Vryhof has made two senior appointments: Evan Zimmerman as Vryhof’s new Vice President and Chief Technology Officer and Clément Mochet as new Commercial Director for Vryhof’s business unit, Vryhof Anchors. Based in Houston, Zimmerman has been tasked with pushing improvement within Vryhof’s technology, management systems and engineering capabilities. Floating Tidal Energy Platform Up and Running

The first months of operating the BlueTEC tidal energy platform have been a success, according to the BlueTEC Texel Tidal partnership: with every tidal flow, the platform supplies electricity into the Dutch national grid. The success has led project partners to work toward developing plans for the installation of a second, larger turbine. “Getting the platform from the drawing board to a grid-connected operating reality in just six months is amazing,” said Allard van Hoeken, Head of New Energy at Bluewater Energy Services and recent recipient of the first Prince Friso Engineers Award.

Sortland Named CEO of Global Maritime Group

Global Maritime Group has appointed Peder Sortland as its first CEO. Sortland comes from the post of CEO at Apply ASA, and knows part of the group well from holding the position as chair of Global Maritime AS since April 2014. Before joining Apply in 2012, Sortland was chief executive of Ross Offshore and Subsea Technology Group. He has also managed the Norwegian unit of Subsea 7, and held the position as chair in Ocean Installer. He held a number of leading posts in the Statoil group from 1992-2010, covering upstream and downstream oil and gas activities both in Norway and internationally.

First Damen Crane Barge to head to Uruguay

Damen Shipyard Group’s new transshipment Crane Barge (CBa) 6324 has got off to a strong start, with an order for the first unit from a client in Uruguay. The barge features the proven Liebherr CBG 350 crane as standard and on this occasion has been outfitted with a unique mooring spread from Vryhof Anchors and Damen Anchor & Chain Factory (AKF). The fast delivery time for the CBa 6324 is the result of the characteristic Damen approach of customising  built-for-stock products to clients’requirements. The standardised 63 x 23.5 metre crane barge is available globally and designed to operate reliably almost anywhere in the world. It has the versatility to handle either dry bulk cargo or containers and can be outfitted with a self-propulsion system.

Aker Marine And Vryhof Sign Letter Of Intent

Aker Marine Contractors, (AMC) a subsidiary of Aker Maritime, and Vryhof Anchors have penned a Letter of Intent to extend their cooperation agreement through their U.S.-based joint venture company - TACP/Aker LLC. According to this new agreement, AMC will sell to Vryhof the substantial assets and rights of Sea Talon Anchors, which was attained by AMC in 1988. Within their core business, Vryhof will continue to focus on the design and manufacturing of high holding power drag embedment anchors and the supply of mooring components through other alliances. AMC will concentrate on the marine contracting market, stressing on the design and installation of cost effective mooring systems for floating drilling, production and construction operations.

Aker and Vryhof Anchors Extend Agreement

Aker Marine Contractors, Inc. (AMC), a subsidiary of Aker Maritime Inc, and Vryhof Anchors BV (Vryhof) have signed a Letter of Intent to extend their cooperation agreement through their U.S.-based joint venture company, TACP/Aker LLC. The companies currently hold considerable market share in their respective businesses. In addition to the Gulf of Mexico, considerable potential is seen in the newly developing deepwater markets offshore Brazil, West Africa and other areas of the world. The extended agreement is intended to capitalize on these new markets. As part of this the new agreement, AMC will sell to Vryhof the substantial assets and rights of Sea Talon Anchors (acquired by AMC in 1998).
