Wartsila India Signs Pact with CSL

Wartsila India, the Indian arm of Finland-based Wartsila Corporation, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) for setting up a containerised self-sufficient workshop. As per the MOU, Wartsila plans to locate a containerised self-sufficient workshop within the premises of CSL to cater primarily to propeller blade metallurgical repairs and engine component repairs. Wartsila also plans to support CSL with comprehensive engine services, propulsion services and electrical and automation services based on the requirements, said a press release. Wartsila's 2nd Edition Encyclopedia Launch at Nor-Shipping

The second edition of Wartsila's Encyclopedia of Ship Technology is to be launched at the Nor-Shipping exhibition and conference being held in Oslo, Norway from June 2 to 5. The publication provides definitions to the current terminology used in the marine industry's technical vocabulary. It is intended as a means to pass on Wärtsilä's experience and know-how in this field, not only to the current community of experts but also to future generations of maritime professionals. It is being offered free of charge. The encyclopedia is part of Wartsila's ongoing industry support programme aimed at helping current and future marine engineers, architects, and other industry specialists.

Logwin, Wikestrom & Krogius Supply Chain

Logwin, a provider of international logistics services, announced details of an agreement to join forces with Finnish partner Wikestrom & Krogius to establish and operate a supply chain centre for the Wartsila Corporation in Shanghai, China. Under the terms of the agreement, Logwin in partnership with its international forwarding agent, Wikestrom & Krogius, has won a five year contract to provide logistical and operational services for Wartsila, including the management, transportation and distribution of approximately 70,000 tonnes of power-related cargo from the client's Shanghai hub annually to destinations in Europe.
