HII Run to Boost Special Olympics of Mississippi Fund

Huntington Ingalls Industries' Ingalls Shipbuilding division informs it will host the company's third annual "5K on the Causeway" on Saturday, Sept. 20. The race will take place on the causeway to Singing River Island, and all proceeds will go to benefit Special Olympics of Mississippi.

"We've had a tremendous response for our first two races, and we expect an even bigger turnout for this one," said Edmond Hughes, Ingalls' vice president of human resources and administration. "Our top priority remains the health and safety of our employees. This race is a family-oriented event that promotes a fit and healthier lifestyle. Whether the participants and their families walk or run, it doesn't matter. It's a great event that everyone will enjoy."

After the 5K begins at 9 a.m., there will be a one-mile Fun Run at 10 a.m. Following the race, there will be a family party with free food and drinks, live music from 228 Rewind and entertainment from the Saintsations. There will also be activities for kids, including inflatable jumps, clowns, face painting and door prizes. All participants will receive a T-shirt and a medallion hand-painted by Special Olympic athletes.

Participants may register online and are also encouraged to participate in a Selfie Contest.
