Athen’s Group Third Annual Survey, Opportunities to Reduce NPT

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

October 12, 2010

Athens Group announced the launch of its industry survey The State of Non-Productive Time on Highly-Automated Offshore Assets: Third Annual International Benchmarking Study. Each year the survey dives deeper into one or two specific topics. This year it focuses on industry collaboration opportunities to reduce NPT and safety incidents, and builds on the momentum created by the industry task forces investigating ways to help prevent incidents like the Gulf of Mexico spill. To date, task forces have been focused primarily on subsea well control and spill containment. Historically however, most safety incidents and equipment failures resulting in NPT happen on the drill floor. This survey covers both well control and the drill floor. The resulting report will include year-over-year benchmarking data, will help drilling contractors and operators focus their NPT reduction efforts on initiatives that have worked for others, and will identify where there is greatest support for industry collaboration. Data will be gathered in October and November through online and one-on-one interviews. The results will be published in early 2011. All individual responses and identities will be kept in the strictest of confidence; only aggregated responses will be reported. Participation in the survey is free. Everyone who answers the survey will receive an advance copy of the report and will be entered in a random drawing for 500 (USD) to be donated to the charity or industry association of the winner’s choosing.

Results of all prior surveys can be found on the Athens Group website: http://athensgroup.com/nptqhse-resources/white-papers.html
