Unknown Italian buyers recently purchased three 1979 Japanese-built tankers for a total of $5.9 million. The vessels acquired by the Italians were the Sarpindo Palapa (16,370-dwt), the Sarpindo Primuda (16,319-dwt) and the Sarpindo Pribumi (16,291-dwt).
Another tanker sold was the 1986 German-built Leng
(10,628-dwt) purchased by unidentified Danish buyers for $11.9 million.
Unknown buyers purchased four Japanese-constructed bulk carriers for a total of $32 million.
The vessels were the Ma Guan Hai (1984, 41,762-dwt), the Ma Long Hai (1984, 41,634-dwt), the Ma Quan Hai (1985, 41,634-dwt) and the Ma Shan Hai (1985, 41,634-dwt).
Southern Steamship paid $18.5 million for the 1996 Japanese-built bulk carrier Oriental Nova (70,189-dwt) and Bacolitsas bought the 1987 Japanese-constructed bulk carrier Sea Success (69,755-dwt) for $9.75 million.
Unidentified Greek buyers picked up three bulk carriers in separate deals, the 1994 Japanese-built Azusa (45,210-dwt) for $15.5 million, the South Korean 1983-constructed Chennai Nermai (37,940-dwt) for $5.2 million and the 1982 Bulgarian-built Mina-S (25,530-dwt) for $2 million.
Two other Japanese-built bulk carriers were sold with unknown buyers paying $1.5 million for the 1977 Blue Angel (28,317-dwt) and Far Eastern buyers paying $650,000 for the 1976-built Togo Pal (16,904-dwt).
One containership was reported sold - the 1994 Japanese-built Libra Australia (24,444-dwt) bought by unknown buyers for $14-15 million.
Mexican buyers purchased the 1979 Yugoslav-built ro-ro Ledenice (7,478-dwt) for $1.45 million at an auction.
Vessels that were sold for demolition consist of one tanker, five bulk carriers, one barge heavy load carrier, six general cargo ships and one ferry. The list includes the 1968 German-built bulk carriers Georgios P (82,445-dwt) and Elisa P (82,325-dwt) and the 1969 British-built tanker Monte Rotondo (25,604-dwt).
