Giant Asia-Hub Iron Ore Jetty Construction on Track
The joint venture of BAM International, McConnell Dowell and See Yong & Son has reached substantial completion of the jetty for iron ore transport in Lumut, Malaysia, for the Brazilian mining company Vale. BAM, in joint venture with its Australian partner McConnell Dowell and Malaysian partner SYS, completed the construction of an 1,800-metre-long access trestle that stretches like an umbilical cord between the shore and an angle-shaped transfer platformâŚ
Van Oord Orders DP2 Cable-Layer
The new cable layer, intended to install electricity cables for offshore wind farms, will be built at Damen Shipyardsâ facility in Romania and is due to be completed at the end of 2014. Van Oord is making preparations for the Gemini wind park project which will be constructed 60 kilometres to the north of Schiermonnikoog, one of the Dutch Wadden Islands and this cable-laying vessel will be deployed at that site, among many others.

Russia Shows the Flag on NSR
A naval task force from Russiaâs Northern Fleet is heading to the eastern Arctic, taking the Northern Sea Route (NSR) reports Ria Novosti, citing a spokesperson for the fleet. Led by the heavy nuclear-powered guided-missile cruiser Pyotr Veliky, the task force, which includes the large amphibious assault ships Olenegorsky Gornyak and Kondopoga and a variety of support vessels, has left its Severomorsk base and has entered the Barents Sea.
Shell Pay a Million to Settle Arctic EPA Violations
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has announced settlements with Shell Gulf of Mexico Inc. and Shell Offshore Inc. concerning numerous air permit violations by Shell's 'Discoverer' and 'Kulluk' drill ships during the 2012 Arctic drilling season. On September 5, 2013, EPA settled with Shell for violations of their Clean Air Act outer Continental Shelf permits for arctic oil and gas exploration drilling in the Chukchi and Beaufort Seas, off the North Slope of Alaska.

Four Rescued After Two Boats Crash on Manasquan Inlet Jetty
The Coast Guard and partner agencies monitor debris and pollution Monday after two boats grounded on the Manasquan Inlet jetty Sunday, stranding four people. The captain of the 32-foot boat, Slashbacks, contacted Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay watchstanders at 11:30 p.m. Sunday via VHF-FM channel 16 radio reporting the Slashbacks lost power while towing a 31-foot boat, Lady Jane, through Manasquan Inlet.
