Transas Debuts Remote Worker Tracking System
Transas Marine launched a Remote Worker Tracking System (RWTS), enabling clients to substantially increase OHS levels in construction works on offshore structures such as wind and wave generators or any other offshore platform, by offering an innovative and easy-to-use personnel tracking system. RWTS makes it possible to monitor and control personnel movements to/from offshore facilities and detect their location. The system is easy to deploy.
MOL Training Ship Retired
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. announced that the training ship Spirit of MOL has recently completed its final training voyage. New Aveva Automated Plate Nesting
Aveva announced the release of its new Automated Plate Nesting, a plug-in module to Aveva Hull Detailed Design software. It automatically nests parts into raw steel plates, maximizing the usage of the material and drastically reducing the scrap ratio associated with this process. Aveva said shipyards can achieve savings of up to 13% on raw material requirements by minimizing production waste in this manner,when compared to using semi-automatic nesting or other third-party systems.

Underwater Bow Thruster Removal
A Hydrex diver/technician team mobilized to Rotterdam last month to remove the bow thruster of a 300-meter container vessel. The unit needed to be overhauled. ECDIS Training Course Welcomes 2,500th Participant
Five years after the inception of its MET (Maritime Education and Training Center), Interschalt maritime systems AG has received its 2,500th course participant. The participant, Piers Edward Duncan Boileau-Goad comes from Great Britain and took part in an ECDIS training course. The 27-year-old holds the position of Second Officer in the service of Oceania Cruises. The cruise company regularly sends its nautical officers and captains to Schenefeld for training.
Bibby Offshore HQ in Final Stage of Construction
The new purpose-built headquarters for subsea installation contractor, Bibby Offshore is entering its final phase of construction. The new 53,427 sq. ft. office facility at Prospect Park, Westhill, which represents a multi-million pound investment, is on track to be completed by April 2013. Bibby Offshore staff are due to relocate from its existing offices at Waterloo Quay to the new premises by the end of May 2013.

Hyundai Heavy Wins $2 Billion Offshore Facilities Order
Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), a shipbuilder and leading offshore facilities contractor received a letter of award for a $1.3 billion (USD) order for a floating production unit (FPU) and a $700 million order for a tension leg platform (TLP) from Total E&P Congo on March 26. Hyundai Heavy will carry out engineering, procurement, supply, construction and commissioning for the two offshore facilities to be deployed in Moho Nord field, 80 km off Republic of the Congo’s coast.

Imtech Appointed as Inmarsat Reseller
Inmarsat has signed an agreement with Imtech Marine, appointing the full-service provider and systems integrator as a Value Added Reseller (VAR) for Global Xpress serving the worldwide maritime market. This follows on from a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two companies in 2012. Global Xpress will offer global superfast mobile broadband with download speeds of up to 50Mbps through a 60-100cm antenna.
