The VertaJet SRT-6LT from NLB Corp. does surface preparation faster than manual water jetting and is even more ergonomic than previous models. The new handheld unit needs no air connection to rotate the 40,000 psi (2,800 bar) water jets, and it weighs just 20 lbs. The VertaJet SRT-6LT quickly removes paint, epoxies and other coatings from steel structures and other surfaces. With multiple water jets rotating at 3,000 rpm to create a six-inch (15cm) cleaning path, productivity is very high.

MMA Training Cruise To Visit Mediterranean Ports
CASTINE, Maine -- Maine Maritime Academy students, officers, and crew will visit Mediterranean ports this spring as part of the college’s annual two-month training cruise to foreign and domestic ports-of-call. This year’s training cruise itinerary includes Norfolk, Va., May 6- 9; Valetta, Malta, May 25- 28; Civitavecchia, Italy, May 31- June 3; Cobh, Ireland, June 12- June 15; Portland, Maine, June 25-26. The ship will host a family day sail on the return leg from Portland to Castine.
FLAGSHIP-iCAS: Optimum Situation-Awareness In An Emergency
FLAGSHIP, the Pan-European maritime transport project part funded by the EU, has successfully developed software that enables comprehensive suppression of audible warnings in order to avoid large cascades of alarms on the bridge and in the engine room. Called iCAS (intelligent Central Alarm System), the system is designed to provide a precise overview of the situation on board as it develops while freeing up staff to address the situation and follow the vessel’s routines without disturbance.
Underwater Hull of ro/ro Vessel Coated with Ecospeed

Vroon Offshore Services Take Delivery of VOS Theia
Vroon Offshore Services (VOS) have taken delivery of a new addition to their offshore fleet. The VOS Theia, a 1,400 dwt anchor handling tug support (AHTS) vessel built at the Fujian Shipyard in China, was delivered today, 18 April 2011, in China. The vessel will operate out of Singapore and will be managed by Vroon Offshore Services Pte Ltd. This vessel is an upgrade on our "H"-class vessels, in terms of dynamic positioning. Tognum Receives Indian Coast Guard Contract
Tognum received a substantial follow-up order for the delivery of MTU engines and automation systems for 20 new vessels of the Indian Coast Guard. The value of the contract, which has been signed by the Tognum subsidiary MTU Asia, is in the medium two-digit million euro range. The delivery of the total of 60 engines will be between 2011 and 2014. In 2009, Tognum has already signed two deals for engines and automation systems for the Indian Coast Guard with a total value of 32.5 million euro.
