Six SAR Boats from Damen Shipyards Antalya
Damen has signed a contract with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Ankara, Turkey for the supply of six, state-of- the-art Search and Rescue (SAR) vessels for delivery in 2017.
Edison Chouest to Build 13 Damen Tugs
Marine transportation provider and the United States’ largest operator of OSVs, Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO), has teamed up with Damen to build 13 heavy duty mooring assistance and escort tugs. The vessels will be built in the U.S. using ECO’s network of five shipyards with support from Damen under its Technical Cooperation program. The new tugs will be deployed on two major maritime projects for which ECO has recently won contracts.
Damen Partners with TeamTec for BWTS
Damen Green Solutions has signed a letter of intent with Norwegian company TeamTec to supply and service the AVITALISTM ballast water treatment system. The system combines filtration and a proven, eco-friendly chemical treatment solution optimized for medium-sized to large vessels. The system is highly effective in water of any salinity, turbidity or temperature. The intention is to advance to a full partnership by the end of 2016.

Damen Repeats Multiple Vessel Transport Strategy
Just down river from Damen Song Cam Shipyard, SAL Heavy Lift’s MV Svenja departed from Halong Bay loaded with 14 vessels. The shipment consists primarily of built-for-stock vessels – Stan Pontoons and Tugs – which will be available for immediate purchase on arrival in Rotterdam in October. MV Svenja’s voyage began in Shanghai on August 30th when she started loading eight Stan Pontoons that were built at Damen Yichang Shipyard, China.
Damen to Launch Composite Water Bus
Damen said it is set to launch its first composite Water Bus as the prototype undergoes sea trials in the next few weeks. According to the shipbuilder, the new vessel offers reduced fuel consumption, less maintenance, no corrosion or fatigue problems and is very robust. Damen Establishes Caribbean Repair Yard
On Friday, September 9, the government of Curaçao and Damen Shipyards Group signed a concession agreement for the future operation of the current Curaçao Drydock Company, enabling Damen to establish a new company on Curaçao under the name Damen Shiprepair Curaçao. Damen said it expects to start up its operations in the two graven docks and on the available quays end October 2016. Part of the agreement consists of Damen bringing in extra capacity in the shape of a floating dock.
