Damen Supplies Submersible Dredge Pump in Brazil
Brazilian civil engineering contractor has taken delivery of a new submersible dredge pump for creating an access channel into the sea for a new power plant currently under construction.The Damen DOP150 dredge pump is now in operation, creating the access channel for a critical pipeline for the plant’s cooling system and when completed it will extend 600 meters out into the sea. Jack-up Completes Major Crane Refit
Brave Tern, the 132-meter jack-up operated by Fred. Olsen Windcarrier AS, has completed a major crane refit at Damen Shiprepair Amsterdam.The main operation was the insertion of a 20-meter section into the main boom of the 800-tonne crane, allowing it to reach a height of 120 meters. This upgrade now allows it to install and maintain the next generation of wind turbines.The operation to insert the additional section took 30 days in total.
Damen to Equip Chile's Antarctic Research Vessel
Damen Marine Components has won a contract to supply steering gear, rudders and stern tube parts for an Antarctic research vessel of the Chilean Navy, under LRS -Polar 5 Class notation. The contract was awarded by ASMAR Talcahuano Shipyard, Chile. Damen Starts on Dredging System
Damen began work on the construction of a dredging system for the first Marine Aggregate Dredger (MAD). This vessel, which is being built at Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania for Cemex UK Marine Ltd., is designed to extract sand and gravel from the sea bed at depths of up to -55 meters.According to the builder CEMEX asked Damen to develop a system with no inboard dredge pipework, something which has never been done on a vessel of this size before.
