Additional Info on Port Security Grant Program

Additional information is now available regard the FY2005 Port Security Grant Program (PSGP) discussed in yesterday’s Maritime Items. The Department of Homeland Security has issued its Program Guidelines and Application Kit. It should be noted that the 129 largest volume ports were evaluated based on consequence, vulnerability, and threat. Following this risk-based evaluation, 66 port areas have been identified for inclusion in this year’s PSGP. It is unclear how small ports, such as New London, which are important to national security, were evaluated. Applications from eligible applicants must be received by June 10. (HK Law).
