NME Appoints New Managing Director
The Association of Norwegian Maritime Exporters (NME) announced the appointment of a new managing director, Ole Henæs, who began in the position 3 August. Henæs takes over the leadership of the member-based organisation from Halvard Olafsen, who has led NME for over a decade and who now moves into a new role as Chief Project Officer.
Henæs was selected as NME’s new managing director by the NME board after a rigorous selection process reviewed a number of highly qualified applicants. Henæs’ prior experience on the board of NME and with NME member companies Rapp Marine and Kongsberg Maritime, and his strength as a manager and organiser with a technical background, were cited as reasons for his selection.
As the new managing director of NME, Henæs is responsible for maintaining and developing the organisation’s ties with companies in the maritime industry, public sector interests and initiatives that contribute to NME’s network-building goals. Henæs has spent most of his career in the maritime industry, beginning with the Norwegian Navy, and later taking management and board-level positions with industry heavyweights.
