Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass), has obtained authorisation to act as ‘Recognised Organisation’ (RO), to carry out statutory survey, audit and certification on behalf of Nigeria, Oman and Lebanon flag states.

With this developmental progress to-date, IRClass has been approved as a RO by 29 flag registries across the globe.

The Middle East and Africa, among the fastest growing regions in the world, is a key gateway into the region for IRClass.

Nigeria, Oman and Lebanon all have important maritime links to the Middle East. Nigeria with a strong oil and gas presence, is the largest economy in Africa, while Oman has a history of significant trade in maritime, which dates back to more than a millennium.

Together, Nigeria, Oman and Lebanon hold approximately 8 million gross tonnage (GT), with a fleet strength that is growing steadily and consistently, annually.

“To be approved as a RO for Nigeria, Oman and Lebanon, is a significant step towards expanding IRClass’ services globally, and this reflects the growing acceptance of IRClass by major maritime administrations worldwide.”

“It is indicative of the progress made by IRClass in its efforts to internationalise and explore new markets.” says Mr. Vijay Arora, Joint Managing Director of IRClass.

IRClass is in the process of obtaining recognition from several other flag states and is committed to serve the global maritime fraternity.
