Russia's Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard, a subsidiary of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, is to sign a contract to build two tankers for Azerbaijan’s Caspian Marine Services Ltd.

The two companies have signed a contract for building and delivery of two RST27 tankers. The tankers will be delivered to Azerbaijan in 2016-2017, according to the contract.

The RST27 vessels of the Volga-Don Max class meet the dimensions of the Volga-Don Ship Canal and Volga-Baltic Waterway. The tankers are designed for mixed sea/river transportation of crude oil and oil products (two types of cargo), including gasoline, with no flash point.

The RST27 project was developed to the class of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping KM Ice1 R2 AUT1-ICS OMBO VCS ECO-S Oil tanker (ESP). Detailed design was developed by Volgo - Caspian Design Bureau (Nizhny Novgorod).

As of today, the backlog of orders of Krasnoye Sormovo already includes four tankers of Project RST27 including the improved tankers of the project.

Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard OJSC is one of Russia's oldest shipyards.

Caspian Marine Services Ltd. operates a fleet of support ships involved in oil and gas projects in the Caspian Sea.
