Transas Marine Pacific, the Transas representative in the South-East Asian region, has supplied a bridge simulator, Navi-Trainer Professional 3000, and a GMDSS simulator, TGS 4100, to Bangladesh Maritime Training Institute (BMTI). The acquired simulation facility has enabled BMTI to organize STCW compliant courses at its premises. The full mission ship handling simulator Navi-Trainer Professional 3000 comprises ECDIS with radar picture overlay capability, Radar/ARPA, real hardware for steering and engine control, Conning center and three channels of visualization. The simulator is provided with a wide variety of ship models and extended exercise areas library, including Dover Strait, Singapore Strait, Kanmon and others. In addition to the full mission bridge, the simulator can be spread to make four bridges with full facilities for ARPA/Radar and conning console, which allows several vessels to interact during exercises such as Search and Rescue. TGS 4100, the full mission GMDSS simulator designed for GOC and ROC training and certification, consists of one instructor workplace and three trainee workplaces. The system is networked and can also be used in the standalone mode. New Transas simulators installed at BMTI, allow it to conduct a wide range of navigational courses, including Bridge Team Management, Ship Handling operator, ECDIS ARPA/Radar, Tugs and Mooring operations, Pilot training, Search and Rescue operations, and GMDSS operator training.
