Taiyo Nippon Kisen Co., Ltd. has again selected BASS, maritime software to be its software supplier. Taiyo Nippon Kisen purchased planned maintenance system (Star IPS) and safety and incident reporting solution (SAFIR 4.0) to complement its existing systems. Taiyo Nippon Kisen. has purchased the complete integrated office-vessel BASSware solutions. The earlier purchase took place in the beginning of 2001. Taiyo Nippon Kisen Co., Ltd. has committed to install Star IPS and SAFIR in the office and onboard 62 vessels under its management.
The planned maintenance software will enable Taiyo Nippon Kisen. to manage onboard maintenance and spare parts effectively. BASS will populate all PMS-related data in order for Taiyo Nippon Kisen Co., Ltd. to work on a centralized, uniform and structured database. This way, both office and vessel will have synchronized fleet management database. Furthermore, requisitions issued onboard will now be linked to the purchasing system (BASS Purchasing) in the office.
Star IPS is type approved by Det Norske Veritas as Plan Maintenance System for Machinery. The software is approved for use onboard DNV classed vessels with a Survey Arrangement based on a Planned Maintenance System (SA-PMS).
The implementation of SAFIR for safety reporting will provide Taiyo Nippon Kisen Co., Ltd. with functionality including recording all accidents, near -misses and non-conformities in a way that enables the data to be analysed and used fleet-wide. SAFIR combines front-office technologies with back-office efficiency and delivers vessel-office reporting to help companies effectively manage safety and quality processes. SAFIR will assist Taiyo Nippon Kisen Co., Ltd. to meet the reporting requirements of Section 9 of the ISM Code.
