Bestobell Reports Headway in Chinese Market

Bestobell Marine has secured two new contracts with Chinese shipyards.
 
The first contract will see the company supply cryogenic valves to the Guangzhou Shipyard International, China for use in a new ferry’s LNG fuel gas system. The second contract involves Bestobell Marine producing its small cryogenic miniature needle globe valves for the Hudong shipyard in Shanghai, where they will be installed on four 174K Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Carriers.
 
It is the first time Bestobell Marine’s cryogenic valves will be fitted within a fuel gas system for a Chinese-built project, making it another milestone for the Sheffield-based company. By operating on LNG, the vessel will significantly reduce its sulphur and nitrogen oxide emissions, as well as lowering carbon dioxide output. This will ensure compliance with the latest International Maritime Organisation Tier III regulations, which restrict nitrogen oxide emissions from marine diesel engines.
 
The ferry will be built for Swedish owner Rederi AB Gotland and once completed, will sail between the Swedish mainland and the island of Gotland.
 
Bestobell Marine’s second contract requires it to provide valves for LNG Carriers built at Hudong for joint owners Teekay, CNOOC Energy Technology, The Centre for Liquefied Natural Gas and the BW Group, one of the world’s leading maritime organisations. Bestobell Marine had already secured orders to supply its cryogenic globe and check valves and unique FLIV (Float Level Isolation Valves) for these ships.
