Bollinger Promotes Fanguy, McDonough

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc., has promoted two senior department heads at Bollinger’s headquarters in Lockport, La. Dennis Fanguy has been appointed vice president, engineering and Robert McDonough has been named vice president and general manager of Bollinger’s new construction division at Lockport. Fanguy’s shipbuilding career was launched in 1980 at Halter Marine, where he served as chief electrical engineer while earning a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of New Orleans at night. He joined Bollinger in 1984 as an electrical project engineer and has risen through tasks including: chief project engineer; chief engineer; director of program management, and technical director. During his tenure at Bollinger, he has been responsible for the design of 49 Island Class patrol boats for the U.S. Cost Guard, design modifications in the last 12 of the series, the design of supply boats, lift boats a deck barge and 117 ft. ocean-going tugs. He was also responsible for the entire design of the 13 U.S. Navy fast patrol boats. In McDonough’s new role, he is not only managing new construction at Lockport where all of the Coast Guard’s boats are built, he also oversees material control, maintenance and program management. He returned to Bollinger in 1998 as director, production and estimating responsible for the administration of all government and commercial new construction projects. Prior to that, he managed the engineering design and construction program for a SOLAS-compliant 380-ft. Ro/Ro passenger ferry at Halter Marine. He was also a program manager at Atlantic Marine and was at Bollinger from 1990-1995, responsible for all aspects of the Navy’s 13-ship PC-1 Class patrol boats. He began his shipbuilding career at Ingalls Shipbuilding Company in 1981, where he supervised design and drafting personnel in the generation of hull structural and foundations for the U.S. Navy’s AEGIS CG-47 Class cruiser program. While at Ingalls, he also managed the material financial accounting and reporting systems for major government new construction contracts, including financial plans and time phased cost summaries. He holds an MBA in management and finance and a BS in management and marketing from the University of Southern Mississippi and is a graduate of the drafting apprenticeship programs at Ingalls.
