WOW Moves to California Maritime Academy

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

September 30, 2008

The second annual Women on the Water conference will be held on November 6 – 8, 2008 at the California Maritime Academy, Vallejo, Calif.
Originally scheduled to be held in Galveston, Texas, the conference was relocated to California due to the extensive damage Galveston Island sustained during Hurricane Ike.
The conference will bring together midshipmen with some of the most successful women in the maritime industry to discuss current issues affecting women and the maritime industry. Topics on a variety of issues include environmental changes, human factors (e.g. fatigue, health, and criminalization), industry trends, emerging employment opportunities and regulatory changes.
This event will be an excellent opportunity for students to learn about the industry through the eyes of successful women, begin building relations that will ensure success in their careers, and a networking tool for career women to interface with present and future leaders in the maritime industry.
All maritime industry representatives are invited to attend.
For more information and to register for the conference please visit the Women on the Water website http://www.marad.dot.gov/wow/index.html
