Port directors, commissioners, staff and other professionals in the maritime industry will soon gather at the American Association of Port Authorities' (AAPA) 90th Annual Convention in Québec City, Québec, from September 30 to October 4. The convention, hosted by the Québec Port Authority, will be the first held in Canada since AAPA met in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1996. AAPA's Annual Convention officially begins on Sunday evening, September 30, with a welcome reception. AAPA's Technical and Policy Committees will meet during the day on Monday, October 1. Opening Ceremonies will be held Tuesday, October 2, at the Québec Convention Center, and will adjourn following the Chairman's Gala on Thursday, October 4.

The Québec Port Authority projects attendance of more than 700 delegates, spouses and guests from the U.S., Latin America, the Caribbean and Canada. AAPA's general business sessions will include such topics as: land use pressures on the waterfront; taking advantage of the expanding cruise market; practicing good environmental stewardship; improving business relationships with customers; and meeting the needs of the bulk and breakbulk industry.

As meeting host, the Québec Port Authority has planned a number of tours and social events that will highlight the region's attractions, including area tours of the historical region and a sightseeing cruise on the Saint Lawrence Seaway. Convention hotels include the Hilton Québec, Radisson Hotel Gouverneur Québec, and Chateau Frontenac.
