GAIL Seeks 7 LNG Cargoes

 GAIL (India) will buy seven liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes for delivery from October 2015 until December 2016, according to the tender document obtained by Reuters. 

 
According to preferences and vessel sizes, the deliveries will be split between Dabhol, Dahej and Hazira import terminals.  The delivery windows are October-November 15, January-February 16, March-April 16, May-June 16, July-August 16, October 16 and November-December 16.
 
India has already announced its plans to boost LNG imports to raise power generation.  According to GAIL, the Government has announced subsidized LNG for power generators and asked the transmission company to take haircut.
 
GAIL has also signed 25 Master Sales Purchase Agreements with all reputed LNG suppliers including BG, SHELL, Total etc under which GAIL imports spot LNG cargoes from time to time. GAIL has also procured around 1.25 MMTPA LNG from suppliers like Marubeni, GDF and GNF and the same is being marketed to downstream consumers.
