Solace Global Maritime Gains Certification

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

October 3, 2012

Maritime security services provider, Solace Global Maritime Ltd, has been awarded the ISO 14001:2004 accreditation for its success in implementing an effective environmental policy throughout the company.

The internationally accepted standard awarded by ISOQAR provides a set of strict criteria for putting in place a successful Environmental Management System that helps to reduce a company’s impact on the environment.

Solace recognises that collectively, organisations within the maritime security sector have a significant impact to the environment and have therefore worked tirelessly to establish and manage tools to help measure its waste output and carbon emissions.

Managing Director, David Peach, commented: “Being compliant with all industry standards is of vital importance to Solace and helps to ensure that we are able to provide the best service to our clients by carefully considering and evaluating the ways in which we conduct business.”

Tony Hanson, Solace’s QSHE Manager, added: “Our BS EN ISO14001 certification provides us with the stamp of approval for our hard work and demonstrates that we are serious about our environment and our future. As environmental challenges present themselves, our new environmental management system will help us to put in place objectives and actions needed to overcome them."

This latest addition to Solace’s compliance portfolio follows successful certification to OHSAS 18001 and BS EN ISO 9001.

Solace Global Maritime is keen to work with industry organisations and professionals to improve maritime security standards and promote high levels of competence. It is for this reason that Mr Hanson is involved  with established working groups on the new PAS 28007 due in November 2012, which aims to help develop international Procedures for Private Maritime Security Companies.
