Gutheil Joins Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority
The Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority announced the appointment of David S. Gutheil to Vice President for Maritime & Logistics. Gutheil has international and domestic experience in logistics, marketing and the transportation/shipping industries. Among his duties, Gutheil will be responsible for managing the Port of Cleveland’s maritime facilities and the implementation of marketing and trade development programs to attract new customers, carriers and cargo shippers.
Gutheil, who has already started working at the port, has worked for an assortment of transportation-related companies for nearly 20 years, most recently as Director of Strategic Accounts for NYK Logistics (Americas) Inc., one of the world’s leading logistics providers. NYK offers international and domestic services that include warehousing and distribution, freight movement and supply chain consulting. NYK Logistics is part of the NYK Group, one of the world’s largest ocean vessel operators.
Gutheil’s responsibilities at NYK included directing marketing and business development efforts involving Fortune 100 and 500 companies. He has worked extensively on import/export issues and has a deep understanding of the challenges and complexities involved with the transfer of waterborne cargo to rail or truck carriers.
Gutheil has a bachelor’s degree in economics. He lives in Avon with his wife and two children. He serves on the school board at St. Paul Lutheran School in Westlake.
