Bender Shipbuilding & Repair of Mobile, Ala., has been selected to build a 150 x 60 ft., 10,000 bbl capacity Well Test Barge for The Hanover Company of Houston, Texas. The barge, which will be built according to ABS class standards for international service, is scheduled to be complete in four months. It will be equipped with pumping, generator and separation systems to perform its well test mission. Port of Olympia Elects New Officers

Steve Pottle, a Port of Olympia commissioner since 1997, was elected President of the Port Board of Commissioners on Jan. 8. Bob Van Schoorl was elected Vice President, and Jeff Dickison became Secretary-Treasurer. Pottle, who is also district sales manager for Great Plains Software, will spearhead enhanced efforts to market the Port as a key Puget Sound transportation hub and premier location for expanding and relocating businesses. "Last year, the Port made significant progress in improving the performance of our four business divisions and generating new business activity. In 2001, we'll expand on those efforts, particularly looking at private-sector participation in the development of commercial properties and increasing the diversity of cargoes crossing our docks," Pottle said. Cummins Great Lakes Signs Distribution Pact with Algae-X

Algae-X International has announced its a distribution agreement with Cummins Great Lakes Inc. Cummins Great Lakes Inc. operates six distribution centers throughout the Wisconsin and Michigan. William Maynard, President and CEO of the DePere, Wis.-based company plans to integrate Algae-X fuel conditioners into the fuel systems for new engine packages, and retro-fit the Algae-X units into existing engine installations for Power Generation, Transportation, Mining, Construction, Marine, Agriculture, and other applications. Algae-X Technology is designed to improve and maintain the quality of diesel fuel, hydraulic oil and other distillate fuels preventing tank sludge and clogged filters. Graham Promoted at Litton Ship Systems

Litton Industries announced the promotion of Dr. Clark "Corky" Graham to the newly established position of vice president, resource utilization and productivity improvement of Litton Ship Systems (LSS). In this position, Dr. Graham will be responsible to develop and implement the plan to optimize the utilization of the combined resources of LSS to achieve the highest levels of efficiency from its facilities, processes and human resources. Dr. Graham previously served as president of Litton Marine Systems headquartered in Charlottesville, Virginia. He reports to LSS senior vice president William P. "Pat" Keene. Prior to joining Litton, Dr. Graham served the U.S. Navy with distinction for over 30-years and held senior positions including commander of the David Taylor Research Center as well as technical director of the DDG 51 Arleigh Burke Class of guided missile destroyers, currently being produced by Litton Ingalls Shipbuilding. Furuno was honored with seven awards at the 2000 National Marine Electronics Association Convention in Ft. Myers, Fla. Furuno's new FCV1200 Dual Frequency Fish Finder was selected as Best of the Show. This product features a 10.4 in. color TFT LCD and comes with an easily set 1,2, or 3kW (RMS) transmitter as well as a Furuno Free Synthesizer (FFS) transceiver, which allows easy selection of a broad range of operation frequencies from 15 to 200 kHz. Jeffboat Announces New Appointments

Chaky Narasimhan will assume the position as director of manufacturing engineering at Jeffboat. Narasimhan was previously director of production technology. He received a Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering and Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Louisville. He has been with Jeffboat for 35 years. Barker Price will take on the position of vice president of manufacturing Services at Jeffboat. He was previously vice president of sales. Price received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from UCLA. He has been with Jeffboat for 11 years. Additionally, Bill Robertson will be joining Jeffboat as vice president of sales. He was formerly the senior president of operations with MEMCO Barge Line. Robertson received a Bachelor of Arts from Westminster College and an MBA from Oklahoma State. Interior Products to Hold Photo Contest

Interior Products of Brunswick, Ga., recently announced its first annual product application photo contest. It is open to all users of its Kerfkore, Ultralite Kerfkore, Timberflex, and Flexboard. Three winners will be selected based on quality of photograph creativity of product use. The first place winner will receive a round trip and hotel accommodations to the AWFS Woodworking Fair in Anaheim, Calif. The second and third place winners will receive $250 and $100 respectively in cash or as a credit towards the purchase of product. All winners will have the opportunity to obtain free valuable exposure both in print and on the web as well as be displayed at the Interior Products AWFS booth. Mack Boring & Parts Company was selected as one of the top three in the over-$10 million class of family owned New Jersey businesses. The presentation was made in October 2000 to company president Ned McGovern, his brother and VP, Steve, and sons Ted, Patrick and Dan during a special ceremony held by Fairleigh Dickinson University. They received an award accompanied by a letter from then New Jersey governor Christie Todd Whitman. The annual New Jersey Family Business Awards recognize family-owned businesses that exemplify the highest levels of integrity and contribution to the community. A history of charitable contributions in New Jersey was only one of the deciding factors in Mack Boring's nomination. Judy Jakubiak, warranty coordinator, anonymously entered the company's name in the contest. Longwood Elastomores Appoints Walljasper Longwood Elastomores, Inc., recently announced the appointment of David Walljasper to its Marine Fender Systems Group as a Technical Sales Engineer. Walljasper is a 1988 graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in mechanical engineering. Resolve Receives NMD Approval

Resolve Fire & Hazard Response Inc. has garnered approval by the Norwegian Maritime Directorate (NMD) for its Advanced Fire Fighting Course. Following an inspection of the fire fighting facilities, an audit of quality management programs and training programs at the Resolve School, Reidar Norheim of the NMD granted the endorsement. This new approval predominately will affect the cruise ship community. Many of the officers in command of cruise ships sailing from U.S. ports hold licenses that are issued by the Norwegian Maritime Directorate. The new NMD approval follows the United Kingdom Maritime and Coast Guard Agency (MCA) and the quality standards organization, Det Norske Veritas (DNV), approval of Resolve Fire & Hazard Response. The United States Coast Guard has also approved the company's training programs. Norwegian's training courses are held on a ship that was built on land. Measuring 140 x 40 x 26 ft. (42.6 x 12.1 x 7.9 m), it has three decks with various interior compartments arranged exactly as they are onboard a vessel. Also onboard is a world-renowned flashover unit. The only one of its kind to be housed on any vessel in the country, the unit is most important in terms of fire protection. Highland Tank Appoints Aymong

Highland Tank & Mfg. Co. has appointed Gregory G. Aymong vice president of Wastewater Treatment Systems. Aymong directs the national and international engineering marketing, and sales for these products. He is the inventor of the Highland Tank Oil/Water Separator and has worked for Highland Tank for over 15 years. His patents and designs are used by petroleum, industrial, municipal, military, and commercial facilities worldwide. Raytheon Mourns Loss Of International Sales Manager

Francis M. McManus, international marketing manager of Raytheon Marine Co., passed away on December 15, 2000, after a brief illness. McManus, who was with Raytheon for 27 years, recently returned to the U.S. after working for two years in Portsmouth, U.K. A native of Bangor, Maine., he received a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Boston College. After serving in the Army, he commenced his career in the marine electronics industry as a field representative for Raytheon Service Co. in 1958. McManus went onto become sales manager in 1974, and in 1976, was hired by Datamarine where he spent 11 years as the vice president of sales and marketing. McManus is survived by his wife, Cecelia, three sons, four grandchildren and a brother. ARCOMS Appoints Enerdyne President

Advanced Remote Communication Solutions, Inc. (ARCOMS) has named John R. Westgarth as president of Enerdyne Technologies, one of its wholly owned subsidiaries. Westgarth will be responsible for all operations and administration for Enerdyne, and will report to Michael Silverman, ARCOMS' chairman and CEO. Westgarth brings with him extensive experience developing and implementing performance-improving business strategies. Most recently, he has worked in a marketing and consulting capacity with a number of high-tech companies. Previously, he was VP of Marketing for GYYR, Inc., a division of Odetics, Inc. He also served in a number of capacities while at CBS Corp. (formerly Westinghouse Electric Corporation) including VP of Marketing and Associate Director of Strategy. ARCOMS has also appointed David A. Brooks as director of Government Markets for Innovative Communications Technologies, Inc., one of its wholly owned subsidiaries. In this newly created position, Brooks will be responsible for identifying and cultivating business development and market opportunities for government markets, reporting directly to Moe Abutaleb, President of ICTI. Brooks brings a broad array of experience in satellite telecommunications and Total Quality Management. Most recently, he served as project director for British Telecom Aeronautical and Maritime (BT A&M). Prior to joining BT A&M, Brooks was employed by TDS Incorporated as a program director in its Commercial Systems division, where he developed and implemented sales and marketing plans to secure U.S. Navy and government contracts. NY/NJ Port Authority Names Ronis

Myron D. Ronis, a 30-year veteran of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, has been named deputy director of the bi-state agency's Port Commerce Department. In his new position, Ronis will assist Port Commerce director Richard M. Larrabee with a multi-billion dollar redevelopment and expansion of the Port Authority's maritime facilities. Ronis, a registered architect in New York State, previously held the position of general manager, Port Planning and Development. He was responsible for development of strategic concepts and criteria for port redevelopment programs, intermodal and technical program development, engineering and environmental support, and development of the department's capital budget. As part of the Port Authority's reorganization plan, Thomas H. Wakeman III was promoted to general manager, Waterways Development. Wakeman will be responsible for berth and authorized channel water deepening projects, as well as engineering studies for dredged material re-use. The Port also promoted William F. Fallon to general manager, Strategic Analysis and Industry Relations. He will be responsible for identifying and evaluating economic, business, maritime and legislative trends, and assessing their potential impact on the Port Commerce Department and the Port of New York and New Jersey. Wheelabrator Elects New Sales Manager

Wheelabrator Abrasives, Atlanta, Ga., has named Christopher Pawlicki as the regional sales manager for Ohio, the Northeastern U.S. and Ontario, Canada. Pawlicki, who has an extensive background in industrial sales, most recently served as a manufacturer's representative for various quality products. ACBL Promotes Primm

Captain Chris Primm has been promoted to the position of Marine Superintendent at American Commercial Barge Line LLC (ACBL). He was most recently captain of the M/V Dennis Hendrix. Primm graduated from Paul Hull Center for Training and Education in Piney Point, Md. He joined ACBL as a deckhand in 1978.
