2011 WJTA-IMCA Conference & Expo
High pressure waterjetting/waterblasting and industrial vacuum equipment play an integral role in industrial cleaning/recovery and surface preparation. The 2011 WJTA-IMCA Conference and Expo, to be held September 19-21, 2011, at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas, will focus on sharing information about the technology, equipment, and safety practices with industrial cleaning contractors and company representatives who contract for these services.
“We invite all industrial cleaning contractors and end users who use the equipment or who are considering purchasing or renting the equipment to attend,” says association manager Ken Carroll. “The program offers valuable networking opportunities, education, equipment displays, and live demonstrations.”
Services that will be covered include industrial and municipal cleaning and maintenance, industrial vacuum, surface preparation, paint/coating removal, hydrodemolition, precision cutting, and hydroexcavation.
Waterjet Technology – Basics and Beyond, Monday, September 19, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
“The Basics and Beyond short course is specifically designed to provide an applied introduction to the technology and practical applications of waterjets and related equipment,” says course coordinator Hugh Miller, Ph.D., Colorado School of Mines. “The course is taught by leading professionals and is intended for anyone with an interest in waterjet technology, ranging from first-time users and new employees to those seeking to increase their level of knowledge, including field techs, suppliers, support staffs, engineers, marketing personnel, and potential new users.”
Understanding the Power of Vacuum and How Industrial Vacuum Loaders Work, September 19, 3-5 p.m.
“Professor” Phil Stein, who has been working in the industrial and municipal cleaning industry since 1969, will present this two-hour session on Monday afternoon, September 19, for owners and employees who are first-time users or who are thinking about adding industrial vacuum technology to the business.
“I started working with industrial vacuum equipment in 1993 and saw the necessity for more formal training for industrial vacuum equipment users,” says Stein, whose specialized “Science Lab” presentations have been given to over 2,000 individuals since the training programs started in 1996. The vacuum session will be repeated on Tuesday, September 20, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
“Contractors and end users are invited to attend the grand opening of the exhibit hall and the Industry Appreciation Reception on September 19 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.,” says Carroll. “This is a casual event that gives visitors an opportunity to see new high-tech products and equipment and visit with vendors.” The Industry Appreciation Reception is sponsored by CSM Supply. Hors d’ouevres and beverages will be served compliments of CSM Supply.
Boot Camp Sessions, September 20-21
The 2011 Boot Camp Sessions will feature a variety of high impact topics presented by specialists in their fields. A special one-hour session, “Driving to Zero…Together,” by Kathy Krupp, managed services leader of Dow Chemical Company, Freeport, Texas, will focus on the relationship between contractors and customers.
“A strong partnership between each customer and contract service provider is essential to driving to zero incidents and injuries during hydroblasting jobs,” says Krupp.
Ms. Krupp will discuss a management system for eliminating incidents and best practice recommendations, including safety and technology application best practices.
Exhibit Hall/Live Demonstrations, September 20-21
High pressure waterjets and hydroblasting equipment and systems, high pressure pumps, industrial vacuum trucks and equipment, hydrodemolition equipment, surface preparation equipment, drain and sewer maintenance equipment and much more will be on display in the exhibit hall.
Live demonstrations will feature tube bundle cleaning systems, surface preparation equipment, industrial vacuum trucks, drain and sewer pipe cleaning equipment, automated cleaning equipment, and the effectiveness of safety gear in preventing waterjet injuries.
Participants will also have an opportunity to hear some of the world’s leading engineers and researchers share new developments in applications, mechanics, and procedures during paper presentations on September 20-21.
