Coatings and Corrosion Control Internet Portals Form Alliance

CorrosionSource.com and PaintSquare.com have formed an alliance to integrate their Internet exchange, portal and technical offerings to the corrosion control community worldwide. The basis for the alliance is that the two sites together offer a full range of technical and product information, as well as rich Web site functionalities, to both corrosion specialists and non-specialists alike.

CorrosionSource has a 30,000-page technical library dealing with the disciplines of corrosion technology and includes contributions from Nickel Development Institute and Marcel Dekker, Inc. PaintSquare’s library focuses on protective and marine coatings technology and contains the archives of the Journal of Protective Coatings & Linings (JPCL) and will soon include the archives of Protective Coatings Europe (PCE). Plans are afoot to expand both these libraries continuously.

Vendor descriptions and offerings on the two sites cover a wide variety of products and services in the field of corrosion control. On PaintSquare, more than 4,000 vendors are listed and described in the areas of coatings and linings, equipment for cleaning and coating work, application contractors, and coating consultants.

On CorrosionSource are found 1,000 vendor offerings for specialty metals and other corrosion-resistant materials, inhibitors and chemical treatments, cathodic protection, corrosion instrumentation, and services to the industry, as well as coatings and linings.

Both sites offer buying and selling opportunities, as well as portal services such as career centers. CorrosionSource also offers online technical software tools, over 50 discussion forums on industry and technical topics, online technical consultation, and virtual conferencing.

The alliance between the two organizations will involve joint marketing efforts, sharing of Web site traffic, and exchanges of functionalities and content.
