Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS), the world's leading maritime and logistics service provider, has expanded its operations in Mexico with the opening of a new office in Veracruz.

The Veracruz office, ISS’ fourth in the country, will enable it to cover 80 per cent of ports with the greatest commercial activity across the Gulf of Mexico. One of the oldest and largest ports in Mexico, a new development project at the Port of Veracruz will also increase at the capacity by a further 25 per cent when completed in 2018.

Located to the east of Mexico, the port is multifunctional with numerous specialist terminals including container, chemicals, general cargo and vehicles. As well as handling nearly three million tonnes of cargo last year, the port is one of the largest for vehicle import and exports in the country. It is also the only private terminal in Mexico for repair and dry dock.

ISS Veracruz will offer a full range of marine services including marine solutions, offshore services, logistics and project services and is primed for any offshore project in the area. ISS Operations Manager, Manuel Coronado will lead on marine operations with his five-strong team, while Project Manager, Lazaro Souza, will head up offshore operations with his team both reporting to the General Manager for Mexico, Gustavo Robles.

Adds Tim Cahill, ISS Executive Vice President, North America: “Opening our new office in Veracruz is a great development for ISS. The port is a key Mexican gateway to trade and has an excellent strategic location to complement the requirements of our global clients.

“The port of Veracruz is known for its quality infrastructure and high levels of productivity, efficiency, quality and safety which also makes it a great match for ISS. We are looking forward to its future success.”

The ISS North & Central America team is also currently represented at CMA Shipping 2016 in Stamford, Connecticut, on booth 84.
