Transas has recently been awarded a tender for the Supply and Delivery of an Engine Room Simulator for the WA Maritime Training Centre based in FREMANTLE, Western Australia. The WA Maritime Training Centre Fremantle is one of Challenger TAFE’s specialist training centres.

According to the terms of the aforementioned tender, Transas will provide its first ERS 4000 simulator in Australia. The configuration includes 2 identical student stations with a separate instructor station, which allow the instructor to develop an exercise, as well as monitor the progress of a student during the conduct of an exercise and intervene with exercise variations while the conduct itself. The simulator provides two ship models, Tanker and Trawler, and is completed with SDPP, EPP and AS modules. LCC Cargo system is to be added as well by customer's request.

The Engine Room Simulation Software supplied to Challenger TAFE will be used to enhance the training and performance, and therefore competence, of Western Australian, interstate and overseas mariners. The tools will enable training and assessment to meet standards set out in the Maritime Industry Training Package of the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA), the Australian National Standards for Commercial Vessels (NSCV Parts D – Crew Competencies), and the Standards of Training Certification and Watch keeping Convention (STCW95) of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).

The WA Maritime Training Centre - Fremantle provides training to all categories of mariner, meeting Australian and International competency standards. The graduates operate worldwide on a wide range of fishing and trading vessels from small harbour craft to ocean going ships and fishing vessels. The Centre also offers training to a wide range of associated sections of the maritime industry.
