MOL LNG Carrier Rescues Fisherman

On August 17, the MOL-managed LNG carrier Energy Advance found and rescued one fisherman on a fishing boat that had been drifting without sufficient fuel about 300km east of the Mindanao Island of the Republic of the Philippines.

At 1 p.m. (local time) on August 17, the Energy Advance, out of Sodegaura, Japan, bound for Dampier, Australia, found a fishing boat that had run out of fuel. The fisherman aboard the fishing boat was rescued roughly 45 minutes later and was turned over to the Port Authority of the Republic of the Philippines on August 18.

The Japanese-registered Energy Advance is a 289.53-meter, LNG carrier with a gross tonnage of 119,233 metric tons. Aboard the vessel were 10 Japanese and 18 Indonesian sailors.
