Business Unit to Now Offer Project Logistics and Global Freight Management Services to New Industries and more Geographic Locations.

Crowley Maritime Corporation announced today that its recently acquired Houston-based, freight forwarding, export packing and logistics company, Jarvis International Freight, Inc., will transition into the company as a new branch of Crowley Logistics, offering project logistics and global freight management services to a wider array of industries and in more geographic locations.

Jarvis will now operate under the Crowley name and its team will continue its nearly 30-year legacy of providing specialized international freight forwarding and logistics services, in addition to other value-added capabilities – including engineering, procurement, construction support, and project management – to those in the energy, oilfield and mining industries. The team will remain domiciled at its 1950 Starpoint Drive, Houston, Texas, address, and will retain its existing phone number, +1 281-233-6100. Their new web address is www.crowley.com/forwarding.

“There are a great number of synergies between this project logistics and global freight management group and many of Crowley’s other businesses lines,” said Steve Collar, Crowley senior vice president and general manager, logistics.  “This team’s already strong client relationships and specialized knowledge of project logistics, combined with our experience, facilities and capabilities will prove to be an even greater resource to customers in the industries we serve.”

Crowley’s traditional liner and logistics services, including breakbulk/NIT shipping, customs brokerage and global warehousing, fulfill many of the needs of the project logistics and global freight management’s existing customer base. Likewise, this new specialized logistics division brings global logistics and international freight forwarding capabilities to Crowley’s diverse customer base.

“This decision gives Crowley a greater opportunity to extend our logistics services to new industries and geographic areas,” said Collar.  “Adding this team to our logistics portfolio strengthens our position in the petroleum and energy industries - and will increase the opportunities for us to take on more logistically complex projects for these customers.”

Project Logistics and Global Freight Management’s services also complement those of the company’s Houston-based Project Management Organization (PMOrg), Solutions, which bundles company-wide capabilities and assets with world-class project management skills to provide complete turnkey marine solutions to customers in the upstream energy and offshore construction industries. This new company logistics team has traditionally managed large industrial projects, including the project management and logistics of moving oversized modules to remote areas. The group can add even more value to Solutions’ customers by offering ongoing freight forwarding for related cargo and by managing source-to-site logistics for maintenance, repair, and supply operations.
