Nominations Open for Singapore International Maritime Awards 2017

 The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) is calling for nominations for the Singapore International Maritime Awards (IMA) 2017. 

 
The biennial IMA recognises individuals and companies for their outstanding contributions to Singapore's development as a premier global hub port and a leading international maritime centre. 
 
The following award categories for IMA 2017 are now open for nomination. Please refer to Annex A for details. The nomination forms and assessment criteria for IMA 2017 are available here. Nominations will close on 6th Jan 2017. 
1) International Maritime Centre Award 
2) Excellence in Manpower Training and Development Award
3) Outstanding Maritime R&D and Technology Award
4) SRS Ship Owner of the Year Award
5) Bunker Award
6) Maritime Service Provider Award
7) Offshore & Marine Engineering Award
 
The SRS Green Ship of the Year Award, which recognises quality Singapore-registered ship with energy efficient ship designs, is the eighth award category. 
 
This category is to be evaluated and awarded based on the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) and/or other additional energy efficient measures, such as the use of abatement technologies and alternate fuels, etc.   
 
Andrew Tan, Chief Executive, MPA, said, ““IMA 2017 is a key anchor event of MPA’s Singapore Maritime Week 2017. Next year’s awards take place against a backdrop of difficult challenges facing the industry. All the more we wish to recognise the contributions of individuals and companies that have played significant roles in developing Singapore as global hub port and a leading international maritime centre. It will also be a good opportunity for companies to share and profile their best practices amidst the challenging environment.” 
 
IMA 2017 will be held on 25th April 2017 in conjunction with the 12th Singapore Maritime Week (SMW), recognised as Singapore's iconic week of maritime events and activities, this event is attended by prominent maritime personalities.
