Drydocks World hosts INTERTANKO Team

Drydocks World received a high-level delegation of the Council members from the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (INTERTANKO) on 11 November. The delegation included Mr. Olav Eek Thorstensen, MD & CEO of Thome Shipmanagement, Ms. Ann-Marie Astrom, Vice Chairman of the Rederi AB Gotland. The delegation also included members of the board: Mr. Derya Sabaz, COO / Co-owner of v Besiktas Likid AS, Mr. Takis E. Koutris, Managing Director of Roxana Shipping SA, Mr. Tim Horne, Managing Director of Teekay, Mr. Wellington Koo, Executive Director of Valles Shipping and Mr. Erik Ranheim, Staff Member of the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (INTERTANKO).

The delegation met senior management and operational figures in the Drydocks World group, led by Eng. Ali AlSuwaidi, Vice President of Business Development, Commercial & Project Management, during which a presentation was given highlighting the achievements and accomplishments in the yard, as well as the successes of Drydocks World group. The most prominent programs and strategic projects implemented in various areas of the maritime industry were explained, highlighting the Drydocks World group’s future plans, which incorporate maintaining a position as a distinguished high quality international service provider, meeting regional and global industry needs.

Eng. AlSuwaidi stressed the importance of Drydocks World in both the maritime sector and the economy of the UAE in general stating, "Since the early beginnings of our country the maritime industry has been identified as a future growth sector and today the industry represents the prominent success of our nation in the development and diversification of our sustainable economy. We have created an integrated maritime industrial sector that meets the needs of our country and is able to compete in global markets.”

He added, "We look forward to working closely with the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (INTERTANKO) to inform the owner companies of the tankers on the high quality services offered by Drydocks World group, which has developed services and features that are built according to the highest international standards. Drydocks World has a large service capacity and can complete various manufacturing, construction and maintenance on many types of vessels. Due to the strategic location and advanced infrastructure of Drydocks World, our organization has a positive track record of providing high quality services to the maritime sector.”

The International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (INTERTANKO) activates through multiple provisions of information and advice to its members in the areas of maritime shipping policies and technical developments in the shipping methods of working committees as well as providing members with legal and documentary consulting services, acting as a platform to strengthen the network of links and business relationships.
