IMSN Launches New CBT Course
International Maritime Security Network LLC, an International maritime security training and consulting company based in Pennsylvania, now offers a computer based training (CBT) course that satisfies the new STCW security training requirements for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (2010 Manila Amendments).
“Seafarers around the world have a relatively short timeframe to meet new STCW training requirements that involve security training,” said Captain Tim Nease (Ret.), IMSN’s CEO. “We are hopeful our CBT course will offer shipping companies and mariners a practical and affordable way to meet this daunting training task. Mariners will be able to conveniently take this training online and print their own certificate upon successful completion of the course.”
According to IMO Circular STCW.7/Circ.17 (Dated 24 May 2011), Security training requirements found in Regulation VI/6 of the 2010 Manila Amendments must be completed by January 2014 for certification.
IMSN Training Director, Martin White, said, “We launched our first CBT course for Anti-PiracyDefense training back in 2011, and we plan to also offer the Security Awareness Training for all Seafarers course (IMO Model Course 3.27) sometime in early August.”
IMSN established themselves as a DNV-certified Maritime Training Center and offers courses in the United States, Panama, Belize, Kuwait, Viet Nam and Nigeria. IMSN offers the only DNV-certified Anti-Piracy Defense Course, available in eLearning and classroom format. They also offer training directly onboard commercial shipping vessels.
