Caterpillar to offer complete hazardous location solutions

Caterpillar Inc. announces the availability of comprehensive, complete hazardous location solutions for the oil and gas industry. Offerings range from components to complete power solutions and generator sets for a broad spectrum of applications.

Varied explosion proof solutions are available today for most of the petroleum product line. “We’re pleased to provide our global customers with a broad set of hazardous location solutions for their onshore and offshore applications,” said Mark Helgren, Caterpillar integration manager. "We understand our customers needs for integrated safety solutions and are glad we can support their efforts to increase the safety of their operations.”

Cat® hazardous location solutions are fully customizable and designed to integrate with complex equipment. The power packs have all required protective equipment installed and are fully tested for conformity before they are delivered to the customer. Having a completely designed, tested and certified package from Caterpillar allows the customer to reduce project complexity and decrease certification-related risks. ATEX, NEC and IEC certifications are available.

Caterpillar recently unveiled the Cat C15 ACERTTM water-cooled manifold engine certified for hazardous location use. The C15, rated at 536 and 540 bhp (400 and 403 bkW) at 2,000 rpm, joins the already certified C7 ACERT, C9 ACERT and C32 ACERT engines with power ratings ranging from 205 to 1,110 bhp (153 and 828 bkW). These engines are primarily used for offshore blending, cementing, nitrogen pumping and coiled tubing applications where personnel and rig safety are critical during daily operations.

Available in either a hazardous location or standard water-cooled manifold configuration, the C15 ACERT meets the most current offshore emissions requirements, including IMO Tier II, EPA Marine Tier 2 and EPA Marine Tier 3 beginning in 2013.
